Just came back from watching my son & daughter do their 20 laps.  Both nervous before they got behind the wheel and super pumped when they were done.  So pumped up that as soon as they were back in the office they paid for another 20 laps (for another  day).   I think they  liked it!!!!!!For first timers like we were let me tell you how it goes.  The entrance to the LA Race side was a little hidden for us.  We followed the driving directions to turn into Speedway Drive which was wrong because they were having a used car sale going on and the lot where you do park, further down Live Oak, and where you register was hidden by semi's driving out.  They told us the class would be an hour and it was more like 45 min.s.  After class, drivers sit  in the grandstand and wait while the group before them does their drive (unless your in the first group to drive).  About 10 min before the group driving ends, they call the next group and have them suit up (helmet, jacket & pants, (slightly padded), then they sit in the stands again til the drivers are done.  They drive them out to the cars in little golf carts.  It doesn't take long before all four cars are on the track.   A couple of practice laps to get a feel for the car then off they go.  They do really scare you into buying their insurance for $89.00 each driver.  Before we arrived I had told my family about what other reviews said that you really don't need to pay the additional $$$, but  they do a great job of getting into the driver's psyhic-y (head) !!!  A man took my son and daughter into another room and gave them a talk about old ladies crashing, and cars getting totaled, how much you'd pay if you wreck the car, etc.  By the end of the talk, they paid the $$$.   I'm not a racing fan, but this did give me a better perspective and MORE respect for actual race drivers. This place could use a re-do, make the place inviting and fix it up a little to make it look "fun".  Has so much potential, but I guess who ever owns it is not in the "entertainment business".   I kinda agree with Anthony W.'s review, where he says they do as little as possible to make the most $$$.  The main take from this day was my family enjoyed their driving experience and they'll be going back one more time. I'm going to be as transparent as I possibly can be here. I definitely took a lot from this experience, and do have a newfound respect for NASCAR drivers and what they do. I learned a lot about the track and the way stock cars handle. I'm giving this 2 stars for a couple of reasons however.People on this page have complained about having to pay the 89 dollar insurance prior to racing. It's insurance, no one wants to pay it, I get it. I sure as hell did not want to pay full price for a stock car. My fiancé bought me the pass initially and kindly paid the insurance as well. Now I don't care about having to pay it. What really gets me is that it is not clearly advertised on their website that you will have to pay it. You have to dig into the "policies" section of the page to even see the fine print. At 400 dollars I would expect something like this to be inclusive. I am very not happy with that aspect. It is a dishonest way to run a business and it just makes it easier to bully unsuspecting customers into putting more money into the business. If insurance was so important to you and your company to preserve your vehicles, change the price online 488 to include everything and not blindside people. My last complaint comes from myself as a driver, which is where I want to be very transparent. I work in car collisions for a living. I eat, breathe and sleep car collisions. This being said, I've never driven a stock car or been on a track before. I really wanted to get a feel for this car before I get overzealous and run into the wall and pay 2500 dollars. It really took me a bit to see how the car accelerated and handled coming out of the center of the track. However the 3 others in my group were obviously more experienced on a track and were flying right as they told us to. Now I'm all for the fact that they don't want to slow down drivers that are wanting to go fast, I get it. They paid the ridiculous amount of money that we did as well. But by the time I was even comfortable to accelerate harder, I was constantly being told by the spotters to drop down to the inside line so the others could pass. I could never maintain a good pace after I got used to the car due to that. This was pretty disappointing for me. They obviously encourage single person improvement rather than the experience of the group as a whole.Overall, I learned a lot at this facility. I left with a new respect for what these racers have to endure. That's why I'm at least giving 2 stars. My issue is with the way this business model is set up, seemingly in a way to get the most out of someone with little effort on their part. Read Less

I came by on 1/8/17 for my Nascar Race car adventure =) I saw their voucher on Groupon for a huge discounted price... I thought to myself who else doesn't like a Great Deal so I called the business myself and inquired about any in house promotions directed through them. So the gal in the gal on the phone let me know that they will honor the same voucher advertised on groupon ....sounds pretty Awesome right? She had offered the $99 for the 1 hour in class instruction along with the 20 laps on the Nascar race track. That is a wonderful deal in my opinion and it beats paying $399 eff all that!! As you pull up everyone check in sign a waiver once you hit their grounds...then you are off to check in, all they ask is for your name and proper identification...then your off to the front desk representative to pay for your insurance just in case you crash their race car....the just in case...option it is not required but suggested...so there goes another $89 for insurance then you are off into a room full of adrenaline junkies for the in class room for the to do/ don't do once you are on the track and safety....I forgot the Instructors name since he was Full of energy and educating everyone in class he talked suuupppeeerr Fast but he was wonderful! After the 1 hr in class instruction they separate everyone in race groups then you  watch your classmates race untio its your turn to get dressed..to get suited then they put you in the pit with your crew chief ...I had Joseph as my chief..he was absolutely kind and welcomed with a huge smile. I love that he was very informative and down to earth....I am an adrenaline junkie....I love riding my street bikes...but something about being in an actual Nascar race car and riding the track has been on my bucket list since last year. Joseph kept me in the loop the entire time of my 20 laps...of 450hp on the speedway...I couldn't be more happier....it was a fabulous time!! Everyone at La Racing was beyond nice and kind! Once you are done with your race you have the option of purchasing your video & photos and you get a certificate and a discount if you choose to come back. I would highly suggest anyone to come here if you are an adrenaline junkie this place is a must with friendly staff ad awesome experience.....but if you give LA Racing a call for their $99 special for their 1 hr in class instruction with their 20 laps special....no way in hell I am paying $399 for the same thing...personally. What a heck of a good time. Yes, it's a short track. Yes, they pound into your head "don't crash the car" while convincing you that insurance is a good idea. Yes, they will kick you out for being stupid (like passing people when you're not cleared - something they said over and over and over and over in the training.)All that said...the little voice in your head that always wants you to go faster? It's matched by a voice in your ear from your spotter telling you to "give it a little more throttle." I have absolutely no idea how fast I was going...but it seemed pretty freaking fast. Put the pedal to the metal a few times. The cars hug the road. They take effort to steer and brake - you have to pay attention. Although it's only 20 laps, it's pretty tiring. The most surprising thing is how little you can actually see. It's a lot like a 90's racing game - you have a small-ish window to look through. Hit the gas. See a car, pass the car. Try not to crash. All in all, it was really, really fun. Read Less

This is probably fun for many people and I think the staff are pretty professional and you get a fair deal here.  If you're a big fan of racing, I can see how this would be a blast.  But I found it to be more scary than fun.  Honestly, the cars and the racing outfits are incredibly uncomfortable.  The helmet made me feel like my head was being crushed and I couldn't see a damn thing in the car--no rear view mirrors! And the steering wheel is jammed right up against your chest. All the while, you have a guy barking in your ear to go full throttle.  That's great if you're an experienced race car driving, but it was really unsettling and uncomfortable to be unleashing all that power when you're driving an unfamiliar car almost blind.  The cars don't have power steering or power brakes and when you go through the banked turns, the rear of the car feels like it's going to slam you into the wall.I get it.  They're race cars, not road cars.  But it just wasn't a fun experience for me. LA Racing was amazing!!! I surprised my boyfriend with racing passes for his birthday and he said it was the best present he has ever received :) I got passes for both of us to drive. From the moment we arrived and met the instructor David, the experience was terrific. David spent about an hour with all the drivers explaining the rules of the track. He is very high energy and keeps you engaged the entire time. Safety is a huge priority here, as it should be, so I would have spent 2 hours in there if we needed to.  When we finally got out to the cars we were so excited!!! The crew straps you in, makes sure you are confident and ready to go. I am glad they gave us a few slow laps to get a handle on the car. Once the green light came on, I was ready to go and had an amazing time!!! The 20 laps go by quickly, but it was some of the most fun I have had in a long time. When we finished my boyfriend and I both told each other we had to do this again! So we bought 2 more passes to come back (at $75 per person - they have a great deal when you buy more passes that day). Thank you LA Racing for a fabulous racing experience. Keep doing what you guys are doing!! Can't wait to come back and see you again soon :) On another note... the $89 insurance people are complaining about is definitely worth it. I would much rather have insurance than smash up a car and be out thousands of dollars, and the $89 insurance is clearly stated on their website so it was not a surprise to me on the day of. Seems to me the people who did not have a good experience here were the people who did not follow the rules... so just keep that in mind. I have no problem with people who are driving even slightly recklessly being kicked out so that the rest of us can have a safe and enjoyable experience, and I would hope everyone else feels the same way! **MUST READ**PRO's-no instructor riding shotgun. On your own.-take earliest AM course when temp is cool.-only 4 cars per session on the track.CON's-no GoPro camera equipment allowed.-no Q&A session following the training. -DO NOT BUY THE $89 INSURANCE! The other Yelp! reviews are correct; it's a total rip-off. If you crash the vehicle you're STILL RESPONSIBLE for the first $2500.00 and they'll swipe your card. During the 1 hour training Dave the instructor hits you hard with 4-5 horror stories of "this person crashed into the wall" and "that girl cracked the egg and spun out, Ozzie ran her card for $10,000" in an effort to upsell the $89.00 insurance. At the last 10 minutes of training they bring in "The Closer" named Ozzie aka Danny Glover who echo's the hard upsell for insurance and buying additional track packages before you've even ran your first race. When I returned my waiver for declining the insurance Dave states "you're the only one declining, just so you know." Very off-putting. According to Dave the trainer he instructs 1,200 students per month and "has 1-2 crashes." You do the math. The stories were very elaborate, seemed embellished so I questioned the authenticity. What $89.00 buys you:-2 tanks premium fuel in your own car.-cell phone bill.-16 tacos, bottle of tequila, 4 Churro's and a piñata. I'm a car guy; drive a BMW and work in the industry. It was fun and a pretty good deal if you use a Groupon but I wouldn't do it again. DON'T fall for the insurance! Read Less

GREAT TIME. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I bought 3 passes, one for my dad, one for my husband, and one for my father in law. My father in law didn't want to do it, so I took the 3rd pass for myself since they are non-refundable. Was I nervous? YES. Did I think I couldn't do it? YES. But I am so happy that I didn't let my anxiety get the best of me and I actually went through with it.  It was an experience I will never forget and I am so happy I got to share the track with my dad and my husband (who both passed me more times than I can count, but that's another story)When we initially booked the 1st time, we showed up at 10am and the 8am class still hadn't gone due to some debris on the track from the race the night before, which was a safety issue, so they ended up cancelling for the day and we rescheduled and left. No big deal, not the end of the world. I would rather be safe and have proper track conditions than not. The 2nd time we came back, the instructor welcomed us with some serious high energy that he somehow managed to maintain throughout the entire hour long class. He's funny, witty and tries to make this a fun experience for you: BECAUSE IT IS. After the class, they don't mess around. We went out to the stands and immediately watched the 1st group go out, which were the Advanced drivers. Then before you know it you are suiting up to get out on the track. All of the information you need was in the emails sent to you and told to you in the class. They make it pretty clear. Once you are in the car you have a staff member helping you get situated and fire up the engine, then you hear the spotter in your ear, and if you paid attention in the class, you are aware of what is going on and you GO!You do a couple caution laps, just cruising, getting used to the wheel, engine, track, etc. It's LOUD and it's FAST. After the yellow laps, they give you the green light and you floor it. They teach you about the corners and when to gas and when to let up. I got to hit it hard a few times but I wasn't going fast enough because I did have to pull down to the white line when the other racers passed me. They tell you in the class not to pass unless the spotter tells you you are clear (or you get kicked out) which is again GREAT because I can't see you. This is a big deal and I for one am happy that they take your safety so seriously. I don't know where the other yelpers get off on being pissed about being kicked off the track - literally EVERYTHING is spelled out for you in the class about 10 times. The spotter I had was great, even though he called me "bud" the whole time. LOL. That's fine, I thought it was funny, he didn't know I was a female. He kept urging me to go faster and was really clear on the directions and where the other drivers were, etc. 20 laps goes really fast so try to soak it all in. IT IS SO MUCH FUN, I can see why people keep coming back. I am really happy I found this place and that they offer such a FUN & PROFESSIONAL experience. THANK YOU LA RACING!!! We will be back! A few notes: *They do offer insurance, that we gladly purchased. I had no idea what was going to happen on the track. Slamming into a wall was a high possibility in my mind and I had no intentions of buying a racecar that day. *I would make sure you eat before. The snacks they generously offered were just that, snacks. *If you do bring guests to watch you race, bring an umbrella or wear a hat. IT"S HOT in the stands. *I brought a change of clothes, because you do sweat. They say it gets to 130 in the car, with the suit on, etc. *HAVE FUN, ENJOY YOURSELF & PAY ATTENTION =) Read Less

Was given a gift to take a race class with my brother from a family member for the holidays.   We scheduled our class and were then informed, the week before class, that an additional $89 was due if we wanted limited liability insurance which would keep the cost of any damage we did to our cars at $2500 or less (instead of the potential $38,000 if we didnt purchase the $89 insurance).   I purchased the insurance because I thought I was actually going to get a chance to DRIVE these awesome stock cars.Unfortunately, I was put into a group with 3 drivers other than myself, one of which is an avid driver at this track who has been going there to race for several years.  Once on the track, the veteran was whipping around super fast which was causing the other drivers (myself included) to have to pull to the inside white line, and stay at 25 mph until passed (otherwise you get kicked out).  WISH THEY COULD HAVE SIMPLY SAID ..................."HAS ANYONE HERE DONE THIS BEFORE" AND THEN MOVED THOSE ADVANCED DRIVERS INTO THEIR OWN GROUP SO THEY COULD ENJOY RIDING AT THE FAST SPEED THEY ARE COMFORTABLE TO DRIVE AT.........WHILE I (like the other first time drivers whom there were many of) WOULD STILL GET THE CHANCE TO DRIVE AT THE SPEED WE ENJOYED AND FELT COMFORTABLE DRIVING AT without simply being left on the inside of the track for the whole duration of the ride, going 25 mph while being lapped by the experienced drivers.REALLY BUMMED.  WANTED TO ACTUALLY DRIVE :(PS : the snack shop that they said they have was CLOSED during my 1pm class, and I was forced to wear the gloves of the person who drove before me because they only had one size small.  The gloves were sweaty and nasty and really gross. These things just added to my not very enjoyable, but very expensive, day at the track :( Read Less

Drivetech is very disorganized and a ripoff. I went up expecting to race NASCARS for 12 laps I arrived 1 hour in advance at 11:30 for a 12:00 race purchased to 80.00 insurance and the 50.00 dvd. I then went to suit up and was sent in to a drivers meeting that lasted a total of 10 minutes and after the meeting was told to go to the staging area. When I got there I was told that the 11:00 race would start in 15 minutes.11:00 race at 12:00ish? I was told to join this group instead.I finally got started at 12:30pm. Initially I did 4 Laps slowly around track behind pace van while they communicated to cars to alternate positions. I expected to do 8 more lapsBut after an additional 4 laps the whole group was told to pit. I asked “Was that 12 laps?” and was told “yes.”Two months later after many calls about the dvd it arrived. It showed 4 laps behind pace car and at the green the camera vibrated down so the only thing you could see was the reflection of the stands and the front bleachers. I counted the laps as 4 on green totaling 8 laps. I called them about it and was told that they were going to reimburse my 50.00 and if I wanted to come back that it would be half off 550.00 equaling a total of 250.00 + 80 insurance, plus another 50.00 for the dvd. Of course I declined. Finally they told me you were only allowed 15 minutes of total time on the track regardless if you finished your 12 laps or not. If that was the case why advertise 12 laps and not just 15 minutes?????? Read Less

We made plans to drive and sit threw an hour class made both guys pay for liability insurance. Drive 2 laps and got kicked off for passing. Stopped everyone from racing to kick them off and bring them to an office and continued to scold them like children. I mean arguing and yelling as if they demolished a car.

Read Less
