Okay lets us be real dudes. This is indeed the best the driving school. I can't appreciate Darren, John, and Michael for everything they have done for me. Without them, I would not have my driver's license, and I probably would have failed. They all taught me something different that was both beneficial and necessary. Even tho we have to drive other people, I relish it because I got to meet new people which I always enjoy. Also, it gave me more practice driving to various and unique environments/ places. John helped me by instructing to me through diverse situations. He is remarkably calm, patient, LIT, and super duper kind. He isn't just an immeasurable instructor, but a phenomenal person. I looked forward to my lessons because of him. We had a ton of laughter in the car. Talking about our lives and stuff, but still concentrating on the roads and the lesson. He also pointed out several situations where the past kid had failed and told me what I should do in this situation. Also, reminded me always to do my traffic checks. I got to know John more than an instructor, but a friend. Without him and his calm attitude, I would probably have freaked out on the road unsure what to do. Darren helped me by reminding and showing me all the windshield wiper, lights, etc. on my first lesson. He taught me how to make left turns accurately by actually drawing it on the whiteboard and made me draw it too. He went into detail what to do, and that shows how dedicated he was. It helped me comprehend it when. I saw it on the whiteboard because I am a visual learner. He also was with me on the freeway on my first time. It was terrifying, but I knew I was ready because Darren reassured me that I could do it. That encouraged my confidence to drive on the freeway. Darren is a very motivational, detailed, and thoughtful person who takes the time to go through things in excruciating details to make sure you absolutely understand. Michael helped me so much on the day of my test. The morning of my test, I was super anxious. But I knew that I was prepared after doing six lessons. Michael made me drive to West Covina DMV. Once we got there, he made me practice the route various times to get used to the new environment. He pointed out different situations and what I should do if that happens during the test. He also pointed out places where past students failed their test and told me to watch out. Michael also reminded me a few pointers and errors I made to make sure I don't do it on the test. I didn't do them on the test. Without Michael helping me an hour before my test, I would have freaked out. After driving with him and getting used to the environment, I felt more confident, and that is one of the reasons why I passed. Michael is a very well organized, detailed, and observant person. Michael checks and reminds the day before the lesson to see if you ​can come. That was very helpful because I forgot that I even had a lesson sometimes. They all bring something different to the table, but they all work so well. These are very astonishing, understanding, caring, organize, and helpful people and I can't appreciate them enough for everything they have done for me. Big shoutout to my instructor John, who was with me for 5/6 of my driving lessons. Unlike others who can labeled as a nightmare instructors, I'm thankful that John kept a patient and calm tone throughout all my lessons. Not only that, he was also careful to point out may potential mistakes that may risk failing the DL test or danger, and quickly provide tips for corrections. I've read other reviews about "wasting time driving the other student home," but I don't view it as such. The lesson begins once you enter the car and the instructors attention shifts to the current student. By driving the other student home, the student driver is able to experience different roads in different regions. As a result, the instructors are able to provide a wider array of lessons/tips. The 2-hr lessons feel really fast so make sure to practice, practice, and practice before each lesson to maximize growth and experience. Read Less

Going here will not benefit you at all. None of the instructors taught me how to check my mirrors or anything.. I drove on the freeway without any experience and that was frightening, but I got off quickly as there was a lot of traffic. The most I learned here was doing turns. I hate the way their lessons are planned out. I always take another student driver home, and then drive, take a break, and the drive back home. That was literally my lessons. It wasted my time and I would have felt more comfortable if half of my lessons didn't involve another student in the car when I was learning to drive. But they get credit for having friendly instructors, cheaper prices than other schools, and I passed my test the first time. However.. I passed because I practiced with my family.. Highly recommend Zoan, I had no driving experience and paid for six 2 hour lessons since I didn't have much opportunity to practice driving outside of the lessons. I recommend using Zoan Driving School because they help you learn how to drive properly, as well as park and drive on the freeway. I loved how the instructors told me what I was doing right or wrong which helped me get better at driving. I lost my fear of driving on the freeway thanks to John (one of the driving instructors). He also taught me how to park easily. Using Zoan Driving School was a very good experience overall because of the good driving instructors and the input they give you when you drive. I took the package 2 hours per day good for three days and paid for the on the day driving test an hour before the DMV driving exam. I pass! Their services are good and they train you well especially when it comes to driving safe. I couldn't be more happier. My money was well spent. Michael helps to schedule all the classes very smoothly as per ones convenience.  All the instructors were very punctual. I had my first few classes from Andrae. He is very calm instructor and helps you get a feel of vehicle and the road on your own style which is great especially if you are new to driving. My next few classes were with Darren who is a very passionate instructor. He is very particular about smooth driving and teaches tricks to make driving a pleasant experience. He is extremely patient and takes all efforts to get you perfect with the tricks and confident in driving skills. I had my following classes with Bruce who is very particular about driving rules, especially speed. He gives you a flavor of driving in harsh situations which you find on daily driving. Shout out to Darren, Michael, Bruce and Andre! You guys were all wonderful!I have always been scared to be on the road and gets nervous easily. These guys made all the tension go away and taught me to be as comfortable and calm as possible while staying alert and ready to react at all time. They put safety above all else and all of them have their own unique way of teaching that could help you become a more well-rounded driver.They pay attention to everything you do and all of them have useful tips and tricks that I have always felt fortunate to know about. - Darren learns your weaknesses and strengths then teach you the techniques or, what I would love to prefer to as, quirks that help your driving become smoother for YOU. He helped me think less about all the things I have always thought I needed to think about and instead be more efficient by concentrating on the roads, ask myself questions occasionally to help me be more in-tune with what I am doing in the moment, thus making me more confident in my decisions and relax my muscles to just enjoy driving. "The drop" is definitely the best thing he taught me, the art of becoming completely relaxed and in control all at the same time.- Bruce knows exactly what type of things you need to focus on to improve your driving by being completely honest about his feelings and thoughts on your skills while making sure you know that you're in control. - Andre is so encouraging and probably the most bubbly and sweet person that you'll get as a passenger. And yes, a passenger, as he will always make sure that you're relaxed, calm, do your own thing naturally AND responsibly. He does his best in making sure your mind is at ease and focus on the roads ahead by staying present and in the moment.  "20% skill, 80% mentality" he said, and I agree wholeheartedly. Your mentality is definitely important and Andre has no trouble in making sure you're aware of that. - Michael pays attention to all the little details and is very straightforward about what to improve, what to avoid and is absolutely not afraid to tell you to be patient, helps you learn that not rushing yourself and be more relaxed are keys. $220/6hr.  Although my daughter was given her 6hrs of behind-the-wheel training, which included drives to-and-from-home(?!), there were a couple times when she got rescheduled because the prime owner's/trainer's vehicle broke down or schedule had to change--lol!  This school is popular because of the reviews, but in reality otherwise.  Go for the bigger Bang-for-the-buck!We spent more time separately having our daughter drive--as it should be--than the idea of using a driving school.  BUT, our bureaucratic & business-favored state mandates all driving students to take formal during lessons, pay for its  $$, and show proof to the DMV before doing the test and issuing the CDL.  Lol!In my age back then of learning and testing for the CDL, I learned and passed without a hitch. This was my first time getting driving lessons ever. At first, I was excited to start driving and to finally get my license. However, due to scheduling problems on the side of Zoan, multiple issues during the driving test and lessons, and the overall attitude of some of their staff I am just relieved to have finished my lessons with them. Scheduling was a complete mess. Every time I wanted to schedule a lesson, they would call me on the night before to tell me when it was. Despite giving them at least a week notice most times, I would be subjected to learning about when my lesson was the NIGHT before. This forced me to either clear my day ahead of time, hope for the best, or reschedule. Once, my parents got so fed up that they called the company, multiple times, and I still got my driving lesson notice a night before. Aside from the late notice, they got my address of where to pick me up from wrong multiple times. I would walk out of my house, call them, go back in, and wait another ten minutes for them to pick me up. These ten or so minutes, by the way, would be lost. The lesson length would rarely be ten minutes longer because they showed up late.Lessons were displeasing. While most instructors were alright and could teach, they still had their quirks. For example, Darren was a little too controlling, but it was always manageable and I don't have too many complaints. I understand that driving the kid who just got his lesson back to his home makes financial sense, but when driving him back takes a quarter of my lesson I'm going to get pissed. Also, I never saw or had a female instructor out of my five lessons if that is relevant .A lesson pretty much followed this structure:1. Drive the kid home (20-30mins)2. Drive to their center (15mins)3. Break (15mins)4. Finish lesson (1hr)I would essentially lose HALF of my lesson taking the kid home and then going on "break." For the final hour I would actually learn, but I didn't pay over a $100 for an hour long lesson. Michael. I'm devoting an entire paragraph to this guy. He did not want to work there and his attitude reflected this. He was also the scheduler by the way. Michael took the driving test with me. He told me to meet up at 1130, an hour before my lesson, and arrived half an hour late. I had to call him just to find out if he was there, only to find out that he was going to be "10-15 minutes late". He briefly apologized to me on the phone, but did not apologize in person to me or my mom who took me to the DMV. My mom then made him promise to take me home which he did not. After my test, as I was waiting to get my provisional license, he told me to walk to the Staples nearby and wait for someone to pick me up. The fact that he couldn't wait less than 10 minutes for me to get my paperwork shows just how much Zoan "cares" for their customers. Finally, I was picked up by a student in the middle of his lesson.The unprofessional attitude and overall lack of care for their customers is unreal. Would've earned 4 stars except the instructor gave one BAD suggestion to cost Zoan a star from me.My child's instructor suggested she can grasp the steering wheel at the lower "8 o'clock" and "4 o'clock" positions if her arms gets tired. In my opinion, that is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. Do any NASCAR driver ever rest their hands at that position when racing around the track? I don't think so. This is a BAD habit to have and can be somewhat dangerous. That little bit of time required to slide your hands up to the proper position may be the difference between a CRASH and a near miss!I will enroll my child in a REAL professional defensive driving school once I feel she is competent enough in her driving skills.One more thing. Michael (must be the owner) asks for your full payment for the 6 hours of drive time, required by California, up front! This is probably so you don't stray to another driving school should Zoan not be to your liking.Overall, Zoan Driving School gave my child the minimum needed drive time required by state law. This was my first time getting driving lessons from this place. They offer different packages as to how many hours you can practice driving. These people are very knowledgeable about the rules and regulations in terms of driving as well as the basics. Each appointment is set up with good flexibility and the car swings by almost always on time. First time I did their driving class, I was already nervous about taking the driving test. I loved driving for the first time because it was like going on Autopia in Disneyland. Luckily the driving instructors are really informative and genuinely help with developing good driving skills. I can't stress enough how important I think it is to know how to drive in Southern California. It was only a matter of time before I took up the task. To be frank, as someone who feels really nervous on the road, learning how to drive is no little task -- which makes Zoan Driving School such an asset!From the looks of it, this is a family-run business and everyone takes equal pride in making sure that their students get as much as they can from their lessons. I've taken lessons from Michael, Darren, and Bruce. Mind you, each brother has a different style of teaching. Michael made sure that I got the fundamentals down when I started with them. He was very straightforward, to-the-book, and assertive -- making sure that I paid close attention on the road. Darren helped me hone on my techniques, and was very insistent that I made enough mental room to be relaxed, alert, and drive smoothly. Though I tend to have the habit of gripping the wheel like I'm trying to make homemade orange juice, I've learned that there many ways to operate and steer a vehicle depending on the situation.Bruce, comparatively, has a pretty dark sense of humor in his lessons. It might be a tad unsettling to get a doom message about crappy driving and notice how other people's terrible habits on the roads, but there's a good amount of truth to it all. He was really attentive, thus making a really holistic emphasis on technique and consideration of one's surroundings. Nonetheless, they all made sure that safety is the utmost priority -- as any good driving school ought to do.Thanks to Zoan, I was finally able to get my license! The lessons were so worth it. My wife took two 2 hr lessons from this school. First lesson was like so good which was by an Asian guy named Howard or something and I know he operates in the West Covina region. That guy was amazing and really help my wife in sharpening her driving skills specially with apply breaks and steering control.But the second instructor named Andre who gave lessons on Sunday, I think was so worst. I was in the vehicle on both the times and I can tell this guy was not up to the mark. He was on mute since he started the lessons and didn't even tell her a single driving tip. He was on the mobile most of the time probably he was looking on to the maps and was not able to provide any instructions other than telling her turn left and right. I learned a lot from each instructor and now feel more confident in driving. They are good with communication and will call/text you a day before to confirm your next lesson. I WOULD GIVE THIS SO CALLED DRIVING SCHOOL 0 Stars if it were possible here is why The guy in charge i could not understand his english thats the first of a series of problems because if i cannot understand you how can i communicate with you? These people think that it is ok for you to drive on the freeway when you have never been on the freeway The instructor was irresponsible he got me on the freeway to drive a student home that had already had his class which in that moment there is already something wrong! because why do i have to drive the student back? Why cant the instructor do it? If a person is learning how to drive the last thing you need is someone else criticizing your driving! The worst part was he got me on the freeway with no former freeway experience i was truly terrified but the horror story doesn't stop there the girl that had had the class before me was on board and that was a huge pressure for me because i had never been on the freeway and was very terrified to make an error! These instructors take breaks when its been an hr of driving which is not good because they are stealing your driving time that you paid for! But thats not all the Instructor i had gotten that day whose name is "DARREN" went to the bank on my time to do his banking errands i had to wait 30- 40 minutes for him on my time!!!!! And then after we had to go pick up the next student!!! Thats 30$ of my money they stole because i did not get the full 2 hrs of practice These people make you drive on the freeway when you haven't even learned how to drive on the street!!!! The people in charge are not very diplomatic to the needs of non asian customers because this driving school is primarily for asian people and i am not asian When i spoke to the guy in charge whose name is Michael he told me this and I quote " In order for you to learn how to drive on the street you need to do the freeway first so you become more confident on the street"???!! where is the common sense and logic in that? How are you going to drive on the freeway when you don't know how to drive on the street? He also said that if i didn't want to learn how to drive on the freeway why did i hire them ? He said why don't you get a friend to teach you on the street? You think if my friends or relatives had time to teach me how to drive i would have paid them 510$ dollars to learn how to drive??? The office is dirty, the scheduling is ridiculous my last class was on a Saturday afternoon 5pm to be exact and to me it was a bad time to go out and practice, the instructor was irritated from the students he had all day and took it out on me saying my driving was bad which it was not i was very careful, its also really funny that he said that because he was not paying attention he was playing Pokemon Go the instructors name is Andre so yea if u get him he will be playing video games instead of paying attention Long story short, this is the WORST driving school there is. These people are un organized, they are misleading, irresponsible, and rude to non asian customers like myself. I initially came to this driving school because it thought it was a good deal 510$ for 12 hrs of driving education and the dmv test. But considering the quality of the classes, and the level of irresponsibility that these people have making you drive the freeway when you don't even know how to drive on the street, and them doing errands on your time that your paid for, and their long breaks that you have to pay for too, and having to drop off and pick up other students, then it is not a good deal! I would have rather paid double but have gone to people that would have considered my needs, because these people sure didn't i was not a satisfied customer! One last thing Beware of DARREN! I was looking for a economic driving school and I found Zoan school. I called and talked with Michael, the owner and he was really nice.He will give you the first lesson and teach you the basic. Through the other lessons I practiced with Darren, another nice instructor, he will teach the most important things and also the things that the DMV inspector will look for. They will give you tips for driving and boom you learn good.
