Best driving school in Campbell, ca and surrounding area. N.Krider is the best driving instructor around! I took my behind the wheel course in 2000. I've been driving since. His method of teaching is like no other, he has useful tips and hints as well! My defensive driving skills are the best around due to him. Absolutely wonderful business. It was easy to set up some appointments (but call at least a month or two in advance....and give yourself some breathing room...my daughter didn't pass the written test the first time & scraped by the second time two days before our first appointment.)Lance has a nice smaller car that makes it easy for the kids to maneuver. He spent time with my daughter sitting in the car going over everything including expectations. And she was a very very nervous first driver.They went out three times, and we drove with her in between. Her abilities and confidence increased dramatically after each session. We hired him for an additional session closer to when she would take the test to review her skills and see if she could pass. Then we had him teach her parallel parking which isn't required anymore but we wanted her to get some experience with it.She passed the first time behind the wheel with only one minor issue.We recommended them to her friends, and I know one friend studied with him, and she also passed her behind the wheel the first time. We read Yelp reviews, chose South Valley Driving School and were pleased.  We talked with owner Neal by phone and he was helpful in describing lessons and answering questions.  It was easy to reach him once we were ready to confirm lessons and he accommodated our dates.  It's reassuring to hear how long he has been in this business and he is very knowledgable.  The actual behind the wheel lessons for our daughter were with Lance, Neal's son.  He arrived on time and explained how he would go about the training, from basics all the way up to freeway driving in subsequent lessons. Very patient and and gave clear direction during her driving lessons so that my daughter was able to understand. Lance picked her up from school, was on time and dropped her off at home once the driving lessons were over. I was extremely pleased and absolutely recommend South Valley Driving School.  My nephew had Lance as his instructor, who was very patient and informative explaining the rules of the road and always on time.  They were very accommodating scheduling his lessons.Lance covered all aspects of driving (Stops, Signaling, Lane Changes, Parking, Reverse, Freeway driving, etc.)On the third behind the wheel lesson, they reviewed everything. He really helped to clarify the road test for him, and gave a lot of helpful tips and told him how he should conduct himself.   He really helped my nephew be a safe driver. Completely disappointed with this business.  Very unprofessional and here is the reason why. After reading all of the reviews, I had decided to call to schedule an appointment for my daughter. I reached Neil's voicemail and left my name and number. About 4 hours later, I received a call back. I was unable to answer the call since I was driving, so I pulled over and called Neil back within 2 minutes. I again left a voicemail with my contact information. Now it's been 4 DAYS and 4 VOICEMAILS later, and not a single response. I can understand if he's busy, but by not returning a simple phone call in 4 DAYS, shows he has no integrity! Read Less

We found Neal on Yelp after checking around.  He was very fast at responding to my calls and his rates are fair and consistent.  We found other companies charging all over the board.  In fact, some had different cost for different teachers within the same company.  We chose a time slot at 5:50 AM on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  I first thought it was crazy but now having had the experience, I would highly recommend this to anyone who would like their child  to learn how to manage in the dark.  Neal arrived on time everyday and dropped my son off at school on Friday morning after the lesson.  That worked out really well.  After the lesson on Sat and Sun, my son came home and went back to sleep.  That was also a plus for my son.  It didn't cut into his homework or after school events.We loved having Neal teach our son and I highly recommend him. We found Neal via Yelp and also another friend's reference. He gave my teenage son several driving lessons when he started driving. He came today to give a last minute brush up before he takes his driving test next week. Neal always arrived a few minutes before the scheduled time, incredibly patient. One thing we really appreciated was that he picked him up from school for a lot of his lessons and dropped him at home. He is very reasonably priced. What are the chances that my daughter gets the same driving instructor that I had when I had behind the wheel training ?!  When I was searching around for driving schools I found this one and read the reviews.  When I saw the name Neil Krider, I thought it was familiar.  Then when I called, the voice sounded familiar after so many years.Neil Krider is an experienced driving instructor and teaches many, many teens behind the wheel training.  It is a 1:1 lesson, 2 hours at a time for 3 days.  He is very patient and thoroughly enjoys what he does.    My daughter appreciated the fact that the lessons were 1:1 and didn't include any other driving students. In regards to scheduling, we did have to schedule a few weeks out so we waited until after school was out.  However, he was open to picking her up at school, taking her on her lesson and dropping off at home.  He even mentioned that he did lessons early in the morning to accommodate school sports and/or activities.  Very flexible and pricing was reasonable.  Please if you are looking for a driver's training program, please call South Valley Driving School.1/2015:  My son also took lessons from South Valley - Neil Krider!  Call ahead to schedule as his calendar is booked sometimes 1 month out.  Since our lessons were during the school year, Neil picked up my son after school for a 2 hour lesson and then brought him home.  Excellent instructor and after the 6 hours of instruction includes a 30-45 min session around the DMV (Santa Teresa) prior to driving test appointment. My daughter did her behind the wheel training with Neil and loved him!  She had already taken one of her lessons with another school and felt that she didn't get enough drive time or instruction due to the picking up and dropping off of other students.  I called Neil and was able to get my daughter scheduled quickly, although he is pretty busy, so plan ahead!  He gave my daughter excellent instruction especially in the areas I didn't even think of, downtown, one way streets and parallel parking.  She took her test with confidence and passed the first time.  Neil is a gem, especially in a business that has alot of turnover and lacks customer service.  With something so important as learning how to drive safely Neil is the only way to go. As a parent of a teenage son  I wanted to get the best driving instructor I could find and after talking to owner/instructor  Neal Krider I knew I found what I was looking for. He's a retired teacher who knows this business better then most. I was not impressed with the OTHER schools in the way they offered their schedules with money up front and after the first lesson they would schedule the other lessons days if not weeks apart. I don't accept compromises nor do I like their way of doing business. NOT so with So. Valley Driving School, you pick your first day and he prefers to run the required lessons within the week to keep the lessons fresh in the students mind. This is what I would expect. Also like the fact that you pay when all the lessons are done, then you get the certificate.  Mr. Krider comes to your door and picks up the student. He was always on time and only he and the student ride in the car, one on one, as it should be. He definitely lived up to my expectations. The man who owns and teaches behind the wheel, Neil Krider, is very nice and happy to be doing what he does. Driving with him for the first time was great! He picked me up from school and we started driving almost immediately. He was extremely patient with me and he was very good about keeping me relaxed and not too nervous. He talked quite a bit which I think helps keep his students more relaxed. His corrections were always nice, and he never got angry. He covers everything and goes over the driving test, all for a very modest price. I would and have recommended him to friends. Definitely give him a call. He's very flexible with schedules too. I usually just review the restaurants that I go to, but I felt compelled to review this business.  I knew that my little cousin just got his license, so I let him drive over the holidays to a family function.He did a darn good job driving us 2 hrs away in heavy, congested traffic. He obeyed all the rules of the road, and is a courteous driver.  Also, he does not drive slow in the fast lane!   He goes with the flow of traffic- more people should do the same.  When I asked about his drivers ed- he told me about the local driving school he used.  They did a great job teaching him to be a safe driver, and that is important knowing  how bad drivers are in the Bay Area!
