Roland's Driving School is a great preparation for the driving test! I had zero experience with cars and was very timid since it was my first time driving but everyone (Roland, Lina, and Karen) made me feel super comfortable and almost like family! I passed the test on the first try and definitely have a lot more confidence in myself as a driver. If you want to practice on a specific thing, all you have to do is let them know and they'll be flexible and help you out. They take you through the specific course of the driving test step by step so many times that eventually you already know where to turn and change lanes. This was my second time taking the driving test the first time i used another driving school in eagle rock that rhymes with melta lol. That instructor went over absolutely nothing beforehand and i subsequently failed. This time i went with Roland's driving school and from the moment i spoke with Roland over the phone the difference was huge he was polite, friendly, funny and kind. My instructor on the test day was Lina and she was GREAT we practiced the routes over and over the whole while correcting any mistakes i made in the process. And of course I PASSED. I called this place on Saturday morning to schedule a quick test before my actually Behind-The-Wheel test and I'm glad I chose this school for this.Roland picked me up at 10:40am, took me to the DMV and I drove around a little while he helped me out with things I needed to fix. He helped me also deal with the douche driving instructor at the DMV. Definitely lets you know exactly what you need help with, very encouraging while you're driving around, and also takes you on the test roads so that you get familiar with where the instructor will be taking you. No complains what so ever.*** I started this review about a year ago and never finished it. I didn't realize I hadn't finished it but I remembered because I recently recommended his school to a family member and was confident in doing so. Roland is a really wonderful man and teacher! He is so funny and really kind to his students. This is my first time to write a review here in yelp. I have to review this driving school. I failed 3x on test behind the wheel and retake my permit. I have to pass my next behind the wheel test so I took a driving lesson. I never regret taking a lesson with them, all money was worth it. I finally passed and got my license! I couldn't be happier! What's cool about them too is they can schedule you any time even on short notice to go for the test. I texted him Wednesday night to ask if I can have my test on Friday or next week and in less than 10mins he already sent me the confirmation for my appointment and in that Friday I had my test. Roland's Driving School is the best! I had practiced driving with my brother before calling Roland to set up an appointment and I was kind of nervous. Roland was very nice and set me up with a session with Lena, who is one of the greatest people ever! She made sure I knew the rules, calmed me down, and told me not to be scared and that I would pass. After a 2 hour session with her I felt confident, but I opted to have my driving test in their Prius. Roland picked me up an hour before my test, reviewed the rules and the route with me and told me not to stress and do my best. I just took my driving test and passed! So if you're learning how to drive, go to them. If you think you have everything down, still call Roland and set up an appointment to make sure everything you've learned is perfect. Roland's driving school is fantastic. Roland is an amazing instructor. I had never driven before and I have now passed my driving test on my first time. He is patient, simplifies and takes it step by step. Roland also knows how to deal with nerves (with his great sense of humor!!) and has helped me feel much more confident on the road. I took several lessons with another well known driving school (starts with a "V"!) and had a couple of terrible instructors, one who screamed at me during my first lesson and made me feel very uncomfortable.Nick, from Roland's is amazing. He made me feel at ease right from the get-go. I was involved in a car accident when I was younger, so had a phobia of driving, and Nick understood this. He taught me the basics and everything from the ground up, even though I had taken classes from "V." Wow, what a fantastic driving school! I came in not knowing anything about driving, needing to get my permit and license in a mere 2 weeks before going back to university. And guess what, I just passed and am off to my flight!!I am thoroughly impressed by the caliber of instructors, especially with Lina and Roland. I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD PASS MY DRIVING TEST. Thank you, Roland! Keep in mind, I've taken driving lessons with other companies in the area who have wasted my time and money (Chase Driving School, I'm looking at you). I've failed the behind-the-wheel exam after their "lessons" too. I thought I would take a chance with Roland's school after seeing all the great reviews and I swear, their 5 star rating is well-deserved.The other school I used, we'd just aimlessly drive around and the instructor never took the time to really teach me the rules of the road. I never felt confident in my ability because of it. Then came Roland's. What a difference!Started off my 6-hour lessons with Nick who is such a calm instructor that he truly made me feel at ease. Within 5 minutes, he had me driving on the freeway because he was able to quickly gauge my skill level + comfort. I also drove with Lina who is just as calm and as sweet as Nick. I learned so much from her and she made me feel super confident since we drove the DMV route a few times. Super fun people, too. Definitely recommend either of them.I met Roland himself at the DMV since he was taking another student for her test while I was with Lina and you can definitely tell that his company is a FAMILY. I had 5 lessons (10 hours ) with Roland's Driving School. Had a chance to meet Roland and Lina only.They're both very caring instructors and kind of similar. I would say I like the energy and consistency of they're explanations . Sometimes I would not be in a mood for a lesson , but it would take 5 minutes after starting a lesson and I would forget about my mood . I enjoyed my lessons and on the top of that passed my driving test on the a first try.I couldn't ask for more and I already told my teen  sister to call them.Thanks to Lina and Roland. First and foremost I don't typically leave reviews unless I feel it is necessary. Keep in mind I didn't know how to drive. In this case I was truly blown away with the professionalism, great service, and comfortability I have experienced with Roland's driving school. Given that I was a nervous wreck behind the wheel. Nick who works with Roland driving school was my instructor he truly was the most calm, reliant, educated, and relaxed instructor I've ever been with. Without him I wouldn't have passed my drivers test at Dmv. They even provided me with their vehicle to take the test with, yes of course I had to pay extra for that but they truly stayed by my side as if they were family. Through the whole process the lessons, the time, and the effort they put in was above and beyond. I truly recommend them to anyone who is in need of their services young or old ! Thanks Nick ! I cannot say enough amazing things about Roland's driving school. All of the instructors (Roland, Nick, Karen) are great, and I learned different things from each of them.As someone moving from NJ who never really had to drive much in the past, it was such a comfort to be able to move out west and retake classes without judgment. Roland's Driving School made my first driving experience, as well as the driving test, fun, relaxing and easy. One of the biggest problems I had with driving was my nervousness behind the wheel. This distracted my driving to a high degree, however the friendliness and patience the instructors had quickly helped me become less tense and focus on the road. I passed my test on the first try and it would not have been possible without Lina, Nick and especially Roland. On the day of the test, today, Roland picked me up a couple hours before to have a last minute practice lesson, which was needed as well as helpful. I have never written a bad review before but felt compelled to do so after the way Roland and his company treated my mom. The first time we scheduled the appointment my mother spoke to Roland she asked if he would be the one to help her the first time because she was very nervous but when the driver showed up it was not Roland but another one of his colleagues. She was upset at first but ended up enjoying the lady who helped her and went with it still. After that she was optimistic about the school but it went downhill very quickly. Roland canceled the next 2 lessons (both AFTER he was supposed to pick my mom up and both via a TEXT message.) She scheduled her classes early in the morning so she woke up earlier, got dressed and ready just to be told there was not going to be a session that day. I found Roland on yelp and was excited for my mom to finally learn how to drive but if anything all Roland and his company did was discourage her even more and made her less motivated to get behind the wheel. Roland's driving school is wonderful. I had the opportunity of working with Roland and Nick, both male instructors, and it was amazing! Not only are the instructors very well trained, but they never make you feel like you're doing a bad job. They helped me improve my driving drastically in a short period of time! Roland's method of coaching is very helpful to people like me who are very high-anxiety prone. He speaks calmly, never raises his voice, and makes you feel very comfortable as you drive. He tells jokes, stories, and all the while adding little bits of vital feedback here and there to help you drive safer! Nick is very easy-going and friendly. He gives constructive criticism throughout your lesson and tries his best to help you with any mistakes you may make! He keeps you laughing, but isn't distracting. The cars they provide for the lessons are great as well. I loved working with the Prius; very safe and easy to drive! And it also helps that they have a secondary pair of a gas and break pedal on the passengers side of the car, so any time you need a little assistance, they're right there with you! Definitely wouldn't have passed without you guys! After realizing my permit was expiring within the next week, I decided to call Roland after hearing great things about him to refresh my driving. After just 1 lesson (2 hours) I felt more confident in my driving than after having completed 6 hours with a previous instructor. With another 2 lessons my confidence grew and that's all thanks to the comfortable atmosphere that Roland and his instructors provide. Roland managed to get me a behind the wheel appointment within the week, just in time before my permits expiration and I passed with a 98%. I passed the driving test in 10 hours at $500 for this school's help. They were professional, calm and friendly. They taught me not only things that I need to pass the test but also things I would need to know after the test: freeway driving, parallel parking, etc. They have 2, 6 and 10 hours courses ($90/240/380) for different levels of students, which I suppose is the lowest price rate around here. They observed my condition and discussed to determine the most appropriate package for me. I passed the test in the exact range of time that they had expected, so I didn't spend any extra tuition. Overall I confidently recommend this school. They will teach you what you need for both the test and after the test, at a low price in a short time. I'm really happy to have known this school. I would recommend Roland's driving school to anyone looking to pass the driving test. I am 16 years old. I had taken my six necessary hours as a minor with Karen and she was calm and taught me the necessary tips to put me at ease. This was my first time behind the wheel. A few months later, I had another four hours with Roland and I had scheduled my test at the DMV.  I do not have a car and so I used their driving school car to take my driving test. In comparison with other local driving schools, their price is the most affordable. Roland and Karen are both excellent teachers and I could see enormous improvement in my comfort level of my driving ability. I managed to pass my test under their care! You won't regret it! Roland's Driving school is the best in Burbank. I have had classes with Lina and Roland. They are terrific. Especially Roland. He is very friendly and very good coach. Their goal is just not to make you pass in the test but rather make you a safe driver on road. I was doubtful about my driving skills, my husband gave up on me, but Roland and Lina have motivated me enough to gain confidence and I passed the test in first attempt. Never thought passing drive test was this easy. Its all possible only because of Roland's driving school's experienced coaches. Believe me they have tips, which you would not get when you learn from your parents/spouse/siblings. They know what they are doing we just need to trust them. I did not have a car and Roland's driving school offers this service, they lend their car, pick you up one hour in advance, take you around DMV so that you get familiarized with the test road and after your test they drop you back. I was little nervous just before the test began, Roland noticed that brought bottle of water and said to remember few points while driving and you will pass the test... That's how they care about you. Above all they are not expensive at all. Worth every penny. What else can one ask for? Very friendly and had a lot of funny stories to tell so it made me less nervous . His instructions were very clear and he told me everything I needed to know to pass the test . We went through the routes that I'd be going driving through for the test itself . He even scheduled a test for me 4 days later so I didn't have to wait 20 ! I didn't have a car to use for the test so he also allowed me to use his . Picked me up the morning of and he knew his way around the dmv(which I dread) and made the experience fairly easy . We went through the routes two more times prior to and he told me everything they would be looking for . I wouldn't have passed without him ! I had an amazing learning experience with Roland; I got my learner's permit in November and I was able to get my license by June the next year on my first try! :)The lessons are very easy to schedule; when I had just gotten my learner's permit, my mother had signed me up for 2 hours of instruction every Sunday morning. I was able to complete the mandatory 6 hours of driving instruction within three weeks. About six months later, I scheduled a behind-the-wheel test and set two more appointments with Roland before my actual test. I simply called him and we easily reached a consensus on a time and date! On the day of my test, he even took me to the DMV branch that I was scheduled in, and allowed me to take the test using the Driving School's car. (It also makes the test evaluator feel safer with the gas and break pedals on the passenger side, as well :P)As for the lessons themselves, Roland is a very kind and easy to talk to. I live towards the Monrovia area, so typically, we take the freeway towards Glendale. He is DEFINITELY more calm and patient with my driving than my parents are :D After more practicing with Roland, my parents were excited to see dramatic improvement in my driving in such a short amount of time!Overall, my experience with Roland's Driving School has been great! I am now happily licensed and free from always asking others for rides to places :D I would definitely recommend this driving school to another friend! Roland is a very thorough driving instructor and really teaches his students every aspect of driving. Roland is also very calm and patient as it can be very nerve-wracking driving for the very first time but he never gets angry or annoyed but rather teaches you from your mistakes.
