Great program, I love that children are taught on a simulator. I know it's not the same as being on the road but it gives them a sense of what it's like to make mistakes before they get on the road. I like that they involve the parents every step of the way, by making them come in after a class to talk with them about their child's progress and by making parents attend a parent class. They teach your child and you how to handle this big step in their life and yours. Amazing staff and an outstanding experience. — Tammy Watt Read Less

I have two daughters that attended the Driving MBA program. Their defensive driving simulators taught our girls the importance of scanning, staying alert to potential driving hazards, and stopping before an intersection (1st line of a crosswalk) in order to keep a safe distance from potential red-light runners (AZ ranks #2 in the country). Arizona is a melting pot of drivers - some who learned years ago on rural areas of this country, some who forget the importance of using turn signals, and some who just don't give a hoot as to the example they are setting for our young people. Speed limits are ignored in this "What's In It For Me" society where everyone is in a hurry to get somewhere because of poor planning. The instructors and owners of Driving MBA are amazing, patient souls to partner with to teach your child to be a responsible, alert driver. Learning to drive is a process and we are forever grateful to Driving MBA for helping us put qualified drivers on the road! Read Less

I thought this would be good for my son as it caters to teenagers only. On the contrary, some of the the instructors are not encouraging, the program requires the teen to drive 100 hours at least before they take the test, (by the parents, not kidding) and the school has mandatory "fear" videos, which for some kids can be helpful, but for others, it may scare them to the point of not wanting to get behind the wheel at all. My main points for giving it one star: very expensive, and requires the parent to do all the work. Are we really responsible for getting a kid ready for a driving test? Do we really have one hundred hours to spare? Not to mention the cost of gas!One instructor, Maggie, does not give a single encouraging word to the kid, she just says how dangerous it is to go out there, and how not ready he is. Thus, he loses his self esteem. SOME encouragement is necessary for a first time endeavor, whatever it may be.A two hour test. The norm, is fifteen minutes. Need I say more? Our son left Driving MBA and went to Stop and Go. He passed after only three lessons. (No HOURS required from the parents.)Conclusion: save your money. Read Less

Parents Beware! The school offers instruction, but the onus is on the parents to prepare the student for the driving test. We purchased the D.R.I.V.E Certification Test package which is the best package they offer for teens. The instructor that tested our son is Maggie Shelton, who I learned later on is also the manager. She was cold, condescending, and downright rude, not even offering her hand for a handshake. To be clear: I'm not posting this negative review because she failed our son. As a parent, I certainly don't want our son getting a driver's license if he's not safe to drive.I'm posting this review for three reasons:1. The expectation on the part of the school, that a student should have 80-100 hours of "driving experience" prior to the test. So the kid is expected to get majority of the driving experience and instruction by the parents, not by professional driving instructors (less than 10% of his time behind the wheel is with a qualified instructor). Having our son taught by professional instructors was the reason I signed him up for this school in the first place.2. My wife believed our son had been recommended for the test, however, as the instructor who gave him the test pointed out, she had a document, in writing, showing that he was NOT recommended for a driving test (with two exclamation marks) by his instructor. Maggie actually showed me this document during the debrief. So if he wasn't recommended for a driving test, and in fact had a recommendation against him taking the driving test, why did Maggie give him the driving test in the first place?3. Maggie said she's never passed a student with less than 80 hours driving experience. Our son had 60. Again, why did she allow him to take the test? With 100 hours experience behind the wheel, why bother taking your kid to this school anyway? You've done all the instructing yourself! You're better off taking him to the MVD and letting him get his license from there and spare your child the 1 3/4 hour driving test torture. Read Less

I had high hopes for this program, but in the end it was disappointing.  I think most of the driving instructors are excellent and their mission of turning out safe drivers is terrific, but the execution was mediocre at best.  We were told at the parent class that they would not just pass a student through the program, but whenever we asked about our daughter repeating a simulation lab or on-road session that she had not "passed," we were always told that she should just keep going.  I would have been happy to pay for her to repeat the things she did not do well in, but I could not persuade schedulers/receptionists to let her do this.  In the end, she was given a certificate of completion, but she did not feel confident about her driving ability and frankly neither did we.  I tried emailing and calling to set up additional lessons and was willing to pay for those, but after many days of no response and then playing phone tag, we decided to look around and see if we could find someone who really wanted our business.  Today we signed our daughter up for a program at NControl Driving School and will review that program after we have completed it.   If you decide to go with DrivingMBA, I would recommend doing the Busy Parents program so you get more professional on-road instruction and making sure that you ask to ride along for those sessions, so you know how to instruct your child.  You are expected to do 20 hours of driving with your child between each on-road training/evaluation session. Driving MBA is an excellent program.  It is expensive, but it was worth every penny.  It provided my son with instruction I never could have given him myself.  He had many chances to crash harmlessly on the simulator; the defensive driving section was particularly good.  And while I am not happy that he's out there on the road with the texters and the kids who receive no formal instruction, I am thankful he's had wonderful training, and is ready for every situation. I'm highly unsatisfied with the scheduling process. Driving MBA needs to completely revamp their system for scheduling classes, simulators and on-road lessons. A good start would be to send an e-mail confirmation of future scheduled learnings. On more than one occasion, we have reworked our calendar to make an appointment work - only to have Driving MBA call to confirm a different time. Class availability is another issue. Before spending close to $1000.00, we were giv...en the impression that their scheduling process was flexible. After enrolling, we've found the complete opposite. We've encountered such minimal lesson availability that the challenge in juggling our schedules is a major issue. They are also highly unresponsive to e-mail communications. On a positive note, the learning environment is excellent. I can't rate more than one star regardless of how good the teachings are due to the inept class scheduling process. See More Read Less

Both my kids have gone through Driving MBA's program. It is so comprehensive and the instructors and staff are fabulous! I can't recommend this place enough! Read Less

Worse driving school in AZ, all they want is money and they don't care if they lie and cheat you out of it.

This program IS a big investment...of money and time, but most importantly, in your child's safety on the roads!  My son took these classes and by the time he got his license I had no worries or doubts that he had the skills and safety awareness to be one of the best drivers out there.   I can't believe how naive I was when my older son got his license through a cheaper and quicker school...he was not ready!  The rest of my children will all be trained through Driving MBA! My son finished the Driving MBA program in June. We are 100% satisified with the level of instruction he received. We were so impressed with the knowledge of the instructors & their understanding of teen drivers. This program is worth every penny. All the hours spent on the road with us & the hours spent with the Driving MBA instructors has made him a much better driver and I have confidence that when he is out on the road he is making good and smart decisions. DrivingMBA helped give us peace of mind about my mother-in-law's ability to continue driving safely.  And THIS is the place our teenage son will be enrolled to learn.  Even though there are cheaper alternatives, why would we put him on the road with anything less than the best training for unexpected and unfamiliar situations?  No way is it worth saving a couple hundred bucks if it means he can save his life someday.  Best choice, bar none.
