So far I've had a great experience with this company!  I did a ton of research before purchasing lessons for my teen. Drive Right was great when I called and answered all my worried Mom questions. I was happy to find they offered some package deals.  My teen really got a lot out of the classroom session and just had her first driving lesson. I liked that the driving sessions are 2 hours, many only offer 3 hours,  which I imagine would get exhausting!  My teen had a great experience with her behind the wheel session with Kent. My Suggestion: First thing I will say when it comes to getting your child prepared for entering a driving school is you need to get out there on the back roads and teach your child how to drive. Before signing them up for the school, get them familiar with the basics. Keep in mind, your child cannot get their driving permit until they are exactly 15 years and 6 months old and the driving school won't take your child until they have their driving permit. Again having said all ...of that, I tell you from my personal experience, get out there and teach your kid the basics of driving a car BEFORE they start the school. It's not a requirement, but it will help the student a lot when they feel more comfortable. My Review: So let's talk about the school. The school is rather expensive but it is worth it. My son had 5 sessions of driving and each session was a 2 hour session for a total of 10 hours of driving with the school. I will break it down for you: Premium Program w/ Road Test Waiver -- $699 The premium program includes 16 hours of training. Includes: 1 - Six hour classroom training 5 - Two hour, 1-on-1 driving sessions with a certified Trainer Practice evaluation for the written Final Road Evaluation with a Training Complete Certificate that may Waive the Road Test. 1 Graduation Diploma from DRA (For Insurance purposes) The way we did it is, we had a driving session every month from the moment he started the school until the moment he was ready to turn 16 and take his road test. Keep in mind with the driving school, they will give your child the road test and all you have to do it turn in the road test evaluation paperwork to the MVD when your child turns 16 and they will issue your child their driver's license. There might be a possibility that the MVD will give your child the road test anyway but according to the school it's 20% of the kids. My son and I recently went to the DMV after attending the Drive Right Academy school (after he passed his road test with the school) and we got there very early. We were 1st in line and at 8am they called us up to the window and at 8:08am, he already had his driver's license. It was that easy. The school is great, the driving instructor schedules a time with you to suit your needs and they pick your child up at the scheduled time. They perform the session and bring your child back home when finished. Our driving instructor was Bill Lee and he was very nice, knowledgeable and always gave us a rundown of how our son did each time. I am happy to say my son is a better driver than if I just taught him, he developed good habits at an early age and is very confident in what he has learned.
