Wold class instruction at a world class facility. Cass Whitehead and the other instructors really want you to have fun but push you to improve from whatever starting point you bring to the class. To be able to drive Porsche's latest cars at a place like Barber Motorsports Park is something you must do if you love high performance cars.
My driving skills improved significantly during the Performance 2 - Day Course. There is a great mix of track laps and skills development on the skid-pad and autocross course. I enjoyed it so much I went back a year later for the Masters 2 - Day Course. Everything from the first course came back to me quickly and after the open lapping sessions on day one I was feeling confident but had a lot of places to improve. Open lapping on Day 2 things really started to come together. I enjoy watching the HD Video of my laps from each session and comparing them to see how much faster and smoother I became throughout the course. The open lapping sessions during the Masters Class are really something special. Driving highly spec'd Porsche's with feedback on every lap you drive really is a great recipe for quick driver development. And it is a ton of fun!
I would highly recommend this school for any level of driver. They have something for everyone and their instructors can make anyone a better driver. I also really enjoyed the accommodations at the Grand Bohemian Hotel. Very nice atmosphere and they really take care of the Porsche Sport Driving School attendees.

Okay but they definitely have trouble communicating effectively, in terms of building skills. Basically, in the "beginner" course, you get four opportunities to drive around their track. They separate you into groups, and it's luck of the draw. Then they reorganize the groups, based on no clear criteria, and you get to go again. It can be very frustrating. You'll need to rent a car if you want any ability to go outside the hotel/resort for meals or just to get away.

I just had the most incredible experience and elevated myself to an entirely new level, not to mention a new profound passion to drive fast cars around a track. The driving coaches exceeded my expectations and I'm still on cloud 9! Thank you guys for pushing me beyond my own limits. It was exhilarating coming in First place as the only girl (and a girly girl) in class out of 20 guys! Coming back for masters. Can't thank you enough for making this a 5-Star experience and gave me a new passion to enjoy with my 27 year old son!

I just had the most incredible experience and elevated myself to an entirely new level, not to mention a new profound passion to drive fast cars around a track. The driving coaches exceeded my expectations and I'm still on cloud 9! Thank you guys for pushing me beyond my own limits. It was exhilarating coming in First place as the only girl (and a girly girl) in class out of 20 guys! Coming back for masters. Can't thank you enough for making this a 5-Star experience and gave me a new passion to enjoy with my 27 year old son!

The school is not for everyone. It is expensive, challenging and can be intimidating. This is not a school you can take lightly or without a serious side to your driving ability. They do have levels of skill but these are high performance Porsche's and the 2.3 mile track is a beast. But oh so much fun. 1, 2 and 3 day courses with varying driving characteristics. Whether it is worth it is subjective. It is costly but if you have the means it is highly recommended.

If you have ever had a thirst to know what a machine can do or if you just wanted to know the thrill of driving on a closed course and push yourself and your vehicle to the limit, this is the place for you. The Porsche Sport Driving School is a one, two, or three day driving experience that you'll not soon forget. Upon getting signed in, you are treated to breakfast and juice and the instructors begin filing in and greeting all of the guests. A short classroom stint to get you off and running on acceleration and deceleration weight dynamics and then it's straight to the either the track or the practice areas. One of the coolest things to do is to learn how to overcome a skid and recover on the classic skid pad. Water running and power-sliding around corners like you've seen on the tv commercials. The real treat, however, is when you get your chances to get out on the closed loop of hairpin, corkscrew, and twisting turning road that challenges all of your senses. Within a few short hours, I had my 911 going over 100 mph in the straightaways and hugging the corners like I couldn't have imagined just hours earlier. All of the instructors were fantastic and the one on one you got with them through the course of the day was key to making your own personal journey both memorable and instructive. Each took the time to learn your name and push you to your own ability limits. At midday they feed you a great lunch, and then you're right back on the track and the exercise areas to hone your skills further. The difference you feel after a few more hours of practice pays off in ways you can really see. Each driver was given a movie usb device so you can track your progress as the day goes on. The mad russian came along but as a guest rather than a driver. But all of her expectations were exceeded as well. She was able to attend all of the instructions and listen in and even drive with the instructors throughout the day. For only $125.00 she was able to do everything save drive the car herself.One of the most mind blowing things about all of this course is- that all of the Porsches are straight from the showroom floor. Panameras, Cayman, 911's both manual and automatic. Truly the most incredible cars on the road. A Full eight-hour day is waiting before you, go seize it.

Okay but they definitely have trouble communicating effectively, in terms of building skills. Basically, in the "beginner" course, you get four opportunities to drive around their track. They separate you into groups, and it's luck of the draw. Then they reorganize the groups, based on no clear criteria, and you get to go again. It can be very frustrating. The school is not for everyone. It is expensive, challenging and can be intimidating. This is not a school you can take lightly or without a serious side to your driving ability.
