I passed my driving test 20 years ago but stopped driving shortly afterwards. This year, I decided to start driving again but needed refresher lessons. First, I was taught by Kim Gibson (independent instructor - nothing to do with Brian's) and she was awful. If you want an instructor who will constantly shout, scream and bully you, by all means, go to her. But after about 8 disastrous lessons, I sacked her and went to Brian's instead and was taught by Alan Jack. Alan was very encouraging, calm, patient, explained anything I didn't understand and above all - didn't shout at me. £18.50 for one hour's lesson is very reasonable and after about 5 lessons I finally had the confidence to go back on the roads by myself.
