I owe my licence to Steve.
I have been taking lessons with Steve for about nine months. He is extremely patient, and a very good instructor. He challenges you to do your best at all times and is in no way condescending at all, but rather takes his time to explain things and guide you through it with patience and care.
As far as I can tell he is profoundly competent.
I cannot recommend him enough.

I originally called Black and White driving school, because of the reviews. ( which I liked very much) Just moved from the USA, I needed UK license. What a great choice I made... Steve from day one, was very accommodating and understanding. Steve adjusted his teaching style to my own personal needs and personality.He is very much intuned to his pupils individual needs and wants. I’m not going to lie, that it came naturally to me, I had to loose bad driving habits from the States and adjust to UK rules.( like driving manual and on the opposite side of road) Not once Steve made me feel inadequate, or less then. if anything he tried real hard to understand and teach me the right way. It took few times for me to pass. But when I finally passed, I think Steve was more excited than me :) On the drive back home from the test ( which I passed), I recall thinking ... how am I going to do this without Steve in the car ( my security blanket) But than I remembered his voice telling me... Monika...trust your self... you got this...you know how to drive!! And that’s exactly what I will remember. I GOT THIS! I would recommend BLACK AND WHITE driving school and Steve as instructor with my eyes closed anytime.

Steve is the most talented, gifted and most importantly patient instructor you will ever find ! !!- I took my test with Steve - He is there to support you
100% all the way - The lessons are always fun and he will encourage you right to the end ! Most people pass 1st or 2nd time - He likes to be meticulous - If you are lucky he may play some lovely classical music to calm you right before the exam. - I would recommend him to EVERYONE! HE IS super popular ! Thank you Steve !!

I finally passed! Thank you so much Steve! Steve is a fantastic teacher who really coaches you to success. He has great communication skills and understands the psychological issues that might have been holding you back. Steve uses powerful teaching techniques which after having experienced other instructors realised were unique to Steve and very valuable. I would highly recommended him as a driving instructor, whether you are learning from scratch or had previous failed tests he will get you there! he is a friendly, kind and supportive man and his mock tests are especially helpful ! Thanks for all your help Steve :)

I would highly recommend Steve at Black and White Driving School to anyone wishing to learn to drive. Not only is he a brilliant instructor, with great teaching skills and techniques, but also a genuinely lovely guy who is easy to talk to and get along with. Steve was very patient and always made me feel at ease during my lessons. At first, I was quite a nervous driver, but by the end I was thoroughly enjoying driving and was looking forward to my lessons!... and I PASSED FIRST TIME! Which speaks volumes itself!

I’d highly recommend Steve to any learner. He’s a brilliant teacher, and fantastic company. I was nervous about learning, having left it until well into my 30s. Steve’s approach is to break every part of driving into clear, manageable steps. He’s endlessly patient and positive as you practice, mess up, practice again… until, sooner or later, it just clicks. You’ll feel safe and in control. And you’ll have plenty of laughs along the way. Steve recognises that for some people ...learning to drive – and passing the test – is as much about psychology as it is about technique. He definitely helped me find the right mental attitude – relaxed, confident and focussed. When it came to the test, having sat a number of Steve’s exacting mock-tests, I felt ready for anything the examiner might throw at me. I honestly didn’t expect, when I started driving, to pass first time – but I did. Steve is not just a great instructor, but a gifted teacher. He’s teaching you to drive, but many of his lessons – about staying calm, listening to how you feel, instantly forgiving yourself – are great life lessons too. I just passed my driving test yesterday with only one minor after learning with Steve. I switched over to Steve not long ago and I'm so glad that I did. Not only is he a lovely guy with a calm and professional manner, he's a brilliant instructor and picked up on my bad habits and what I needed to improve on quickly and armed me with the skills and confidence to not just pass my test but to enjoy driving and to do it well and safely. I'd say I'll miss you Steve, but I know your voice will be in my head telling me to drive like I'm "10 minutes early" and to not "wait for trouble". Thanks again!

Steve is a great instructor, patient and really personable. He places as much importance on learning the practicalities of how to drive as he does on learning how to enjoy it. And key to this is building up your confidence along with your ability, so that you become a safe, calm, and happy driver. As a nervous beginner, I found Steve incredibly reassuring, and his focus on handling nerves really helped, both in learning the techniques and come test day! I passed first time, but more importantly, I now feel confident in my ability thanks to his guidance and I can't wait for my first road trip! Thanks Steve for all your brilliant coaching! =)

I began lessons with Steve as an older, nervous driver with some unhealthy learned responses to stress, with fear about driving that had only grown over the years. Steve was very patient and persistent and worked with me at changing my habits and thoughts about getting behind the wheel of a car. I passed my test recently a couple of days before my son's 18th birthday but felt like a new grown-up myself. I thoroughly recommend Steve as an instructor as he is passionate about teaching, learning processes but also having good drivers on the roads.

I passed my driving test first time, with 5 minors, after just 4 months learning with Steve. This a guy who really understands how to teach. Every lesson is pitched to be slightly more difficult than the last so that they feel challenging, but also rewarding as you never feel out of your depth. Steve knows the importance of perfect practice and precision. He instills in you the best possible driving techniques and with his excellent guidance he ensures you keep them up, until they become second nature. I have left his tutelage confident that I am a good and safe driver.
All that aside Steve is just a really genuinely nice and patient person. He is always happy to go back over any of the topics you've covered and answer any questions you might have. I can't thank Steve enough for his help and could not recommend him more highly.

I started learning with Steve last October after an 8 year gap since my last test attempt. I initially had very little confidence in myself and my ability however Steve completely turned this around. ...
I started learning with Steve last October after an 8 year gap since my last test attempt. I initially had very little confidence in myself and my ability however Steve completely turned this around. He is fantastically patient, he doesn't mind you doing 10 parallel parks until you feel happy. He reduced my anxieties and has made me in to a safe and confident driver. He has real skills in making you feel calm and never pushes you to do anything you are not ready for. Steve has been flexible around my job and degree which I really appreciate. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone learning to drive. You would be lucky to have him as your instructor.

I have been taking lessons with Steve for about nine months. He is extremely patient, and a very good instructor. He challenges you to do your best at all times and is in no way condescending at all, but rather takes his time to explain things and guide you through it with patience and care.
As far as I can tell he is profoundly competent.
I cannot recommend him enough.

Steve from day one, was very accommodating and understanding. And key to this is building up your confidence along with your ability, so that you become a safe, calm, and happy driver. I began lessons with Steve as an older, nervous driver with some unhealthy learned responses to stress, with fear about driving that had only grown over the years. Steve was very patient and persistent and worked with me at changing my habits and thoughts about getting behind the wheel of a car. I passed my test recently a couple of days before my son's 18th birthday but felt like a new grown-up myself. I thoroughly recommend Steve as an instructor as he is passionate about teaching, learning processes but also having good drivers on the roads.

I passed my driving test first time, with 5 minors, after just 4 months learning with Steve. This a guy who really understands how to teach. Every lesson is pitched to be slightly more difficult than the last so that they feel challenging, but also rewarding as you never feel out of your depth. Steve knows the importance of perfect practice and precision. He instills in you the best possible driving techniques and with his excellent guidance he ensures you keep them up, until they become second nature. I have left his tutelage confident that I am a good and safe driver.
All that aside Steve is just a really genuinely nice and patient person. He is always happy to go back over any of the topics you've covered and answer any questions you might have. I can't thank Steve enough for his help and could not recommend him more highly.

I started learning with Steve last October after an 8 year gap since my last test attempt. I initially had very little confidence in myself and my ability however Steve completely turned this around. He is fantastically patient, he doesn't mind you doing 10 parallel parks until you feel happy. He reduced my anxieties and has made me in to a safe and confident driver.
