I can see exactly where everybody is coming from. Neil has his way of teaching and i experienced getting slapped on the leg for "riding the clutch" having my arm grabbed if i left it on the gear stick...
I can see exactly where everybody is coming from. Neil has his way of teaching and i experienced getting slapped on the leg for "riding the clutch" having my arm grabbed if i left it on the gear stick for longer than 3 seconds. We had a couple of heated arguments where we had to pull over because on was on the verge of exploding. I dreaded my lessons with Neil but at the end of the day i passed my theory and practical first time and thats all that really matters and he really knows his stuff. Not a bad bloke just old fasioned i wouldnt recommend to someone who cant take being told they are doing something wrong. but i my partner and her bro all passed first time. If your a teenage girl look elsewhere but if your a grown up then give him a try. Looking back now it makes me laugh. Good luck in the future everybody and drive safe.

I don't see what all the fuss is about that people make, Neil is a very calm instructor (as long as you don't panic and that). It's not a personal attack but he's very right, you cannot afford to be complacent when in charge of a vehicle. Having had time to think about it, I feel I am a very confident driver, but more importantly I'm confident in the skills that he has taught me. If you can get easily upset and emotional about things then maybe you should consider someone else, on the other hand if you can easily let things slide and focus on the road you will get one of the best experiences in the business, he's not got all those qualifications for nothing you know.

I am absolutely disgusted with the service my partner received with this driving school. Just like all other reviews state, Neil was abusive, violent and outright rude towards my partner who payed for...
I am absolutely disgusted with the service my partner received with this driving school. Just like all other reviews state, Neil was abusive, violent and outright rude towards my partner who payed for his services. My partner lost all confidence with this terrible man, and the final straw was Neil double booking over my partners driving test- so he payed for it, was going to do the test (despite being a nervous wreck because of this so called instructor) but Neil never turned up and claimed "he never received the email" my partner had sent him confirming their already booked slot for that afternoon.
A VERY bad experience, a waste of time and a waste of money.

I am absolutely disgusted with the service my partner received with this driving school. Just like all other reviews state, Neil was abusive, violent and outright rude towards my partner who payed for his services. Left after two lessons, on the the first lesson he was quite shouty but I let it go and went for a second lesson. On the second lesson he shouted at me straight for about 40 minutes whilst I was driving. He kept violently grappling my arms whilst I was driving and I just ended up hysterically crying and he still made me drive whilst I was in tears. I also got to the point of asking him to take me home but he still made me drive. Never going with him again. No wonder why it was so cheap. So upset and angry!!

Originally chose this driving instructor because his qualifications looked good and the lessons were cheap however, I now know why (when deciding what driving instructor to go with) people say don't go cheap, they're cheap for a reason. For my first lesson we went down a country lane (already not a great place to start for someone who has never driven before) but after going through the car controls and other things he wasted my time (and money) by going to the toilet. I felt like on my first lesson I was going far too fast down a narrow road and it was an unpleasant experience. I also found the instructor not understanding and rude. For my second lesson we started off in an abandoned car park where I practised turning and gear changes. We then drove to another country lane however the speeds I was going at I was not comfortable at and then I had to drive on a main road where I was hitting speeds of 50mph which was very dangerous not only for us but for the other cars. During this lesson I accidently touched the clutch when stopping to which he yelled at me and hit my left leg twice. After this lesson I was very shaken up and defiantly never wanted to have another lesson.
I have since joined another driving school and had a much nicer and better experience compared to this one where I was actually able to learn without worrying about crashing.
So to sum up, this is a good example of how cheap is not better and I would never recommend this driving instructor to anyone. AVOID AT ALL COST!

I don't see what all the fuss is about that people make, Neil is a very calm instructor (as long as you don't panic and that). It's not a personal attack but he's very right, you cannot afford to be complacent when in charge of a vehicle. Having had time to think about it, I feel I am a very confident driver, but more importantly I'm confident in the skills that he has taught me.
