As all of these other reviews say Phil is a great instructor! I started learning with him and recently passed my test a few days ago. He is very reliable and organised both during lessons and in between them, willing to change his schedule to suit his students. If you are looking for an instructor that teaches you not just to pass a test but to become a confident driver I don't think they can get better than Phil. Read Less

Phillip is a very patient, encouraging and supportive driving instructor. After a few lessons years ago with another instructor, Phil recapped with me the basic skills and then also taught me how to stay calm and deal with more complex driving and I now feel very confident. Very good value for money as get a lot done in every lesson, which has led me to pass first time round. I would recommend anyone in Portsmouth or surrounding areas to go with this driving instructor! I had been learning with Phil for around 3/4 months, and he gave me the confidence I needed to book and complete my test. After passing my test in Portsmouth, i cannot recommend Phil highly enough. We started slow as i had not driven in over a year, and once i had found he got me test ready and available. Since there were a few breaks in between lessons due to my own timetable, he always made sure we took on from where we left off, and recapped the basics as well as pushing me with my driving. He taught me in a very accommodating way and at a pace that suited me in time for test, and has always been motivating me to iron out any faults and become safe for the road. Read Less

If you're still trying to find the right instructor and lesson style for you, then along with all the other great reviews I can confirm that Phil is a fantastic instructor. He is prompt and gives you his undivided attention in his instruction which is clear and helpful. This really ensures that if you do make a mistake you understand why and how to move on from it. As importantly he is very friendly and a great person to talk with which keeps you at ease (great in a dense city like Portsmouth), making the lesson time feel like it just flies by! Just passed this morning first time!! There's nothing in the test that Phil did not cover not to mention how gentle he was with my clumsy self. My first lesson was with him and he worked with me all the way till i passed today. Didn't change instructors and passed. Let's just say he knows his stuff and towards the end i was feeling confident and ready which is what you need when you have a great instructor like Phil. I definitely recommend!! Read Less
