I have not personally had a lesson with this school, but from what I have seen while out and about in my delivery job, the school should be shut down and its licensing revoked! There are far too many kids out and about who are trying to run before they can walk and it's the motoring schools that are the main enablers, they care far too much about getting in the money than they do about keeping young drivers safe on the road.Unfortunately this time I am picking on the Double U school of motoring, there are others who will be reported, but today this is the one I will be writing about. So here goes, Tuesday the 19th of August 2014 :-I was undergoing my job which entails lots of driving and distributing around the Cwmbran area, upon dealing with a customer in Greenmeadow, I travelled along the rout back to my work place which from that location, the quickest rout is from the Greenmeadow Community Farm roundabout, down the road parallel to Spring Vale industrial estate, over towards Maendy Way and down through the outskirts of Cwmbran town centre. Things were going quite smoothly until I reached the community farm roundabout where upon I was met with two cars in front who were turning right, the first of these was the Double U motoring school vehicle, so far, not too much of an issue. only there was an issue, I get that learner drivers may be a little hesitant on roundabouts, but after waiting 15 minutes it was clear that the student was not ready to leave the industrial estate and be let out on the open road. As aforementioned the student remained stationary at this roundabout for 15 minutes while all the while, a grand collection of angry motorists had started gathering behind myself, during this 15 minutes I was able to count 9 vehicles behind me, not including myself, or the vehicle in front of me and also not including the motoring school vehicle, this also doesn't include the vehicles that had pulled into the left hand lane of the roundabout to cut through the traffic to get on to the 3rd exit of this roundabout, this wouldn't have been so bad if it was rush hour, or even if there were vehicles coming from the right for which the learner driver should give way to, but it wasn't rush hour and neither were there vehicles coming from the right. So, problem 1Problem 2 :-When the learner had finally plucked up the courage to leave the roundabout, at roughly 2mph, the whole way around, she then persisted to travel down the road parallel to the industrial estate at 10mph, again allowing for a substantial build up of traffic behind the motoring vehicle, this went on as far as the road adjacent to the Cwmbran McDonalds franchise where is was then possible (and legal) to overtake the motor school vehicle. As I overtook and looked at the instructor, it was clear to see that she was totally oblivious to the happenings of the last 25 minutes, that with the smell of burning clutch bellowing out from several vehicles that had been caught up in this shambles of a lesson, I became highly infuriated and that is why I am writing this review.I have mentioned the learner driver a few times during this review/complaint but I would never ever blame the learner for anything, they are there to learn, the girl taking the lesson looked terrified as it was, as I mentioned at the start of this text, it is the instructors that are being the enablers for poor driving among young drivers during lessons. So here are a few things to help you out :-firstly, please review the highway code.secondly, stop rushing your students before they are readythirdly, I believe the instructor should have to resit her testfinally, and this is the important one, had any other member of the driving public performed what you and your student performed this week, that driver, had there been a police presence would have been pulled over for driving without due care and attention and could have face a fine with a potential 3 points on their license, it is up to the instructors to ensure a safe future for young drivers, being a driving instructor is not about gaining easy money, it is to teach and to educate young drivers. If the students are not ready for the open road, do not risk theirs and other people lives by hurrying them, there are plenty of industrial estates within Cwmbran that have all the necessities for learner drivers, such as roundabouts, left and right turnings and parking bays, heck, some even have a national speed limit road running right through them which are generally quite quiet during the day!I personally would advise no one to use this school until something has been done to improve the standards of tuition.Read Less
