Don't pay upfront without a trace of the cash. Phil offered to book the practical exam courteously and save me the hassle if I paid him. (He never even booked it) When wanting to reschedule/delay my exam due to personal reasons Phil had mysteriously lost all records of me ever giving me him £62 cash in hand. Of course this is my fault, you can never be too careful on who to trust so if you do book with him keep your wits about you because I didn't. You get what you pay for but I believe I get a lot more. My instructor Phil made me feel comfortable when I was so very nervous. He is patient and understanding which I believe is a must if your are a driving instructor. I could not see myself doing better with anyone else. I enjoy every lesson and Phil's teaching skills are second to none (I think that says it all ) I would strongly recommend Phil to anyone. Read Less

I was very nervous about learning to drive, not just the driving side of it but also being able to find someone who I feel comfortable with, because this is a big thing, learning to drive, trusting someone to teach you and guide you each week whilst in their company. I had already stopped learning with my last instructor for my own reasons a long time ago and knew I needed to get back into the swing of things. I had heard great things about Higgins school of motoring and thought I would call. I spoke to phil and was immediately put at ease,he seemed friendly, professional, and organised. When I had my first lesson with phil this confirmed what a brilliant choice I had made, and what a fantastic Instructor he is. I was very nervous about driving and was lucky to came accross Phil as he managed to put my nerves at ease, was patient with me and over 3 month did lots of practice untill i felt ready for the test. I had him as an instructor when I was 17 I'm now 26. Looking back he was so inappropriate and manipulative. He cons you out of your money, I had 10 lessons with him, I was a good driver and not once did he let me reverse. Because of how uncomfortable he made feel, always touching my leg, talking about his relationships, shouting at me and being quite patronising, I booked lessons with Dave Miller driving school and the instructor let me do everything on the first lesson and it was great! He's an independent business obviously trying to get as much money out of you as possible. My friends just had her test and failed because he made her so nervous prior and he had the cheek to direct her to drive her towards her home 6 minutes before her test because he said it's bad for his reputation if he fails. She argued with him to take her to her test because at the end of the day she had paid money that he weren't offering to pay back. He also spoke about inappropriate things to her like people "dogging" in some woods and last night sent her a text saying "sex you in the morning." I think as a business person that is an awful error and if it was by "accident" he could of apologised for it. Also my friend has had multiple lessons with him and not once did he let her reverse either but told her she was ready for her test! You'd see that's what you sent at the end of the day.
