This is the first time I had a fight with a stranger within 30 minutes of meeting him. I passed my driving test three years ago in my first attempt but didn't get around to driving again for various reasons. To regain confidence I decided to get refresher lessons and found Steve online. So this is what happened: he arrived late, his car was untidy and smelly, he was smelly and too chatty for a professional. Having dealt with two really good instructors in the past I expected Steve to ask to see my licence but nope. He took me to The Downs, wasted 10 minutes talking down to me and then the condescension began, only because I'd said I didn't have issues driving the machine i.e. car (I'd driven for many years in another country) but following rules, road signs etc. But he kept picking on me with "oh I thought you knew how to drive" before telling me off for almost everything. Twenty minutes into the lesson I had this strong urge to call it off on the spot but decided to at least finish the session. Seeing I was not happy he very cheekily said he could drop me off if I wanted. I made several mistakes of course BECAUSE I was driving after three years, and that was the whole point of booking refresher lessons. But I didn't expect the instructor to be rude and so unbelievably sarcastic. His confusing instructions led to more disorientation, anxiety and 'mistakes', which he just used further to fire off even more sarcasm and condescension. His instructions were confusing and he took offence when I pointed out that his manner of speaking was rude and making me uncomfortable. He said I was a bad pupil and that he was "cheesed off." And this comes from an instructor who discouraged me from using handbrake and other good habits such as both hands on the steering wheel whenever possiblenbecause "you do that only to pass your driving test... you are not in the middle of your driving test, are you?" It reminded me how completely opposite he was to my first instructor (Neil Goldie, look this guy up. He's amazing) who held driving rules in such high regard that he wanted me to absorb them for life. He was very strict and professional at the same time. And here's Steve who was so just awful that I am surprised he's still in business. He also stopped the lesson halfway and got out just to chat to a woman jogger he knew. His other reviews are terrible too. I am regretting booking him in haste. Don't waste your time or money with Steve. Read Less
