I had a really pleasant experience taking in car lessons- the instructor was nice to learn from and cared about his students. I've known John for the over three years. He helped me passed my G2 (2 attempts) and recently, my full G test (one attempt, in Downsview). I live in Etobicoke and I had traveled all the way to North York to take lessons from him because he was really good. He will tell you the things that you are doing wrong and explain why. He's got a sense of humour and truly wants you to be a good driver. It was easy to talk to him and schedule appointments. I would highly recommend him. Do not use this business!  The instructor made racist (anti-Chinese) and antisemitic remarks to my housemate (who is neither Chinese or Jewish).   My other housemate, who paid for the instructor, called him and told him it was inappropriate and that he himself was Jewish.  He then claimed the remarks were jokes.  When the test was scheduled, the instructor, John Guga, waited for a particular inspector whom he knew whose name was Ibrahim (did not get his last name).  He told my housemate he was nervous and failed him almost immediately.  This sounds very suspicious.  John Guga also told my housemate the name of the inspector, which is irrelevant.  Also, the inspector wrote comments which were untrue. We will be following up with provincial authorities and with B'nai Brith of Canadae and possibly file a private lawsuit.  Additionally, the driving school did not provide written receipts.  It is also suspicious that this business has 14 un-recommended reviews and of all of these, each of the reviewers has provided a five star review and reviewed nothing else on Yelp. Here is my rant;I paid $270 at the beginning of September for 5 lessons and to rent the car for my G examination. I booked the G exam for the end of September with John the driving instructor, I took 4 of those lessons right away and John said that the 5th lesson will be on the exam date. A month goes by with me not taking anymore lessons because I was not as committed as I thought I was and it is 5 days away from my exam which I have cancelled because I am not ready. I give John a call to tell him this and that I changed my mind about getting my driver's license since it is about to expire (in 1 month and half). I find it stressful to try and learn years of driving experience in a short amount of time (I have never drove outside of my G2 lessons 5 years ago).Since he charges $30 per lesson (as seen here northyorkdrivingschool.c…) and I took 4 lessons which totals to $120, but I paid him $270, I asked if I could have the difference back, his responses were NO MONEY BACK, not his problem, I am seeing other driving instructors (When I told him I planned on letting it expire since I have always been a public transit kind of person) and says "How does he know that I am not lying". I also asked if I can have lessons instead with the money I already paid, response were also a big NO!
