I took Young Drivers two years ago and it was such an amazing experience both classroom and in car lessons, my instructor Kevin was the best, him and I have a lot in common and he's very professional with his work I was very impressed with his teaching skills. When I heard there was this contest for instructor of the year, I thought well there's no way that Kevin wouldn't qualify for that title he's an amazing teacher. To this day I am still using all of what young drivers taught me, four months ago I avoided a head on collision with a transport truck by making a fast gravel shoulder recovery, if I wouldn't have taken young drivers and had Kevin for an instructor I could have died. I am nearing the end of my driving portion with Kevin as my instructor and I can’t express enough just how wonderful he has been. Just starting the process of getting on the road at 27 years old made me more nervous to drive and Kevin has not only put me at ease and helped boost my confidence behind the wheel, but also is incredibly calm and personable. I’m writing you to thank Kevin from the Waterloo Ontario office. My daughter went through the driving part of the training with him as her instructor. He was very chill, she has a lot of anxiety and it put her at ease. He always walked or started to walk to the door to get her which was gentlemanly instead of just beeping the horn :). Driving with her, I noticed the habits he put into her head: she looked ahead; was very conscious of her point of no return; checking blind ...spots and stopping before the white line and then creeping. Several times when we were out she prevented an accident from someone else’s stupidity which really impressed me-he definitely taught her defensive driving. He would later let her know what she did well (important for self esteem) and what she needed to work on. When she went to get her G2 they were running over an hour behind and he stuck with her, keeping her calm. I just want to acknowledge what a good instructor and person Kevin was. I had Kevin as a teacher last year, he easily made me go from a very anxious driver into a confident and safe driver. Through my experience with Young Drivers and specifically with Kevin, I'm always attentive, aware and safe when driving. I was a former student of young drivers and I don't think I could have ever passed with out the help of Kevin. While in class not only did he make it simple and clear on how to drive safely he also kept me and other students interested by making hilarious and very clever jokes! I can safely say that I was one of the lucky people to get him as an in car instructor. I could really trust and feel super comfortable in the car with Kevin helping me the entire way.
