Established in 1968, Saferway Driver Training School Ltd. (Saferway) has become a leader in the driver education and transport training industry by providing certified programs with content and duration geared to industry needs. Our commercial instructors all have many years of experience in the transport field. Saferway is licensed and bonded under the Motor Vehicle Act through the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC). We are an approved Graduated Licensing Facility and an Instructor Training Facility.

I can't say enough good things about Saferway Driver Training School. The owner and instructors have a massive range of experience in every aspect of driving. I did my class 1 training with them, and although they are strict with their students, they always keep you safe on the road and give you the confidence you need to succeed. If you're thinking of upgrading your driving skills, I wouldn't even consider going anywhere else!

The course runs 3 days, Alberta does it in 1 including the exam. This is due to ICBC regulations, so it's not Saferways fault, but I did assume that because their course was longer and more expensive,...
The course runs 3 days, Alberta does it in 1 including the exam. This is due to ICBC regulations, so it's not Saferways fault, but I did assume that because their course was longer and more expensive, I would get more out of it. Instead, they spread the same information out over 3 days and filled the blanks with stories and inside jokes only "good ole truckers" would understand. It was actually ridiculous. I would've learned more just reading the commercial driving manual for 3 days.The stories were non stop and usually loosely related or completely off topic. Also, he would encourage us to ask questions, but then act condescending when we didn't know answers or asked a question that was obvious to him. My examiner was great, but my instructor blew a lot of hot air. I just wanted to learn what I need to know for the practical and ICBC exam. All the other crap was waste of time.

Well took the class 1 training, and I must say, first off I've gained much respect for truck driver as their are so many ignorant people out there, but as far as the training goes Ian and Randy, top notch guys and they teach what ya need to know, trust me from the first time to the end you'll say wow I did it, thanks guys !

People told me it was expensive to get a class 1 license, but as a businessman for 27 years I knew it was cheap. I had a job in 3 weeks and my investment back in 8 more weeks. Now I'm lead hand driver...
People told me it was expensive to get a class 1 license, but as a businessman for 27 years I knew it was cheap. I had a job in 3 weeks and my investment back in 8 more weeks. Now I'm lead hand driver, co-chair of the OH&S committee for a national company, with good pay, great hours, and benefits...and I never went class 1...all this driving class 3! Best gig I've ever had. Should have gotten into this years ago! The right attitude will take you a long way.

I can't say enough good things about Saferway Driver Training School. The owner and instructors have a massive range of experience in every aspect of driving. I did my class 1 training with them, and although they are strict with their students, they always keep you safe on the road and give you the confidence you need to succeed. If you're thinking of upgrading your driving skills, I wouldn't even consider going anywhere else!

Now I'm lead hand driver, co-chair of the OH&S committee for a national company, with good pay, great hours, and benefits...and I never went class 1...all this driving class 3! Best gig I've ever had. Should have gotten into this years ago! The right attitude will take you a long way.
