I attended my 1st course ever with you guys on Air Brakes Yesterday. I passed but it wasn't easy. It really tests people and their own potentials. I suggest to keep the cheat sheet for the pre trips and take them with you to your jobsite in the future until you remember it fully 100% and even then don't lose them. Scott Woodley was a great Instructor and he really knows his stuff. Even gave us some moral advice when it comes to the retarder brakes bylaws. I hope he knows I ap...preciate him sharing his knowledge and experiences with us. I may have looked rather annoyed because I was there on 3 hours sleep and had a migraine and just wanted to get the hell out of there. LOL. But the training was great I learned a lot! But because this is the longest course and is A LOT for 1 to take in you may or may not want to break it up in to a 2 day course? I'm not sure. Just a thought because I don't know how you guys Operate like everyone who Works for CTDTI does. But think about and do what's best for the Company and Success Rate. But your Reputation is as Advertised Regardless and that's you guys are the Best. After Registering Through John Sturgess I went home and Told my better half of how straight forward, realistic, honest and simply didn't sugar coat anything and how strict he was when it came to the Students Quality of time there and what he is willing to do for us. Just hearing it through me 2nd hand we both had nothing but Pure Respect for the way this company is operating. Definitely keep doing what you're doing and DEFINITELY keep the Staff and look after them. I honestly advise anybody to get their Class 1 training though Capilano Trckers Training. I started my training having never pulled a trailer before and having only a basic understanding of how to operate the truck. Jeff was my main instructor and he was excellent. He's knowledgable and patient. He made me feel comfortable and provided constructive criticism that helped me to learn and improve. When my driver examination day came I felt prepared and confident. Regret going here. I shopped around and Capilano seemed the best price for class 1 training, but you end up wasting so much time it costs more than it seems. For example, to train parking a trailer, they have all the students train in the same spot so you end up waiting in line for at least half an hour for that. When it's costing you $100/hr. for the training, waiting in line half an hour every time isn't worth it. They waste too much time on the pre-trip inspection training too. In a 2 hour training session, they spend close to an hour on that. My last training session they rated me 2/5 on that, as though I was completely unprepared for a road test, but in the road test I got 100% on the pre-trip. They just make you feel like you're unprepared for the road test so you pay for more hours of training than you really need to. People there are nice and friendly though. Read Less

Best driving school in Edmonton by far. Couldn't ask for better instructors, went in never even driven standard and practically no trailer experience. Came out with my class 1 on my first try. Jeff was the man, I always recommend him to anyone I know interested. I'd give them more then 5 star if I could!! Couldn't be where I am today with out Capilano! When seeking truck training in Edmonton and area - I checked out Cameron and Capilano. I chose to go with Capilano and I'm very happy I did. Taking a class one is going to run you more or less 3000 bucks, so you should get to know your instructors before putting any money down if possible. Regardless, every single instructor at capilano is great. I had the opportunity to speak with most of them, requesting different instructors, since everyone has a different opinion and you can learn a lot from these guys. They genuinely wish you to succeed in obtaining your class one, but more than that, they wish for you to be safe, and avoid the common dangers that most trucking schools will only gloss over. Again, if you have no or very little experience with a tractor and trailer, you will want to get more hours under your belt. Better to have more, and need less, than have less and need more - the school is popular and gets booked up quickly! Read Less
