He was very informative and never scolded mistakes, just corrected and explained potential consequences to help prevent in the future. Had an overall amazing experience with Proactive Driving School. They were extremely professional and friendly from the beginning, and responded very quickly. Despite all the ice and snow during the winter season, John was very calm, patient and taught me all the skills I needed to know to drive safely. I had close to no experience prior to my lessons with John, and after 10 hours I can say that I am not anxious on the road at all! Always looked forward to the lessons because John is focused and strict enough to keep you on track, but is also very understanding of your mistakes (everything that’s needed for beginner drivers). If you are looking for a top notch but super friendly driving instructor, John Odlum of A Proactive Driving School would always be my first recommendation.  I was very nervous about taking a road test but my trepidation began to quickly disappear starting with my first conversation with him. He is not only highly skilled and a very intuitive people person but is so calm, so patient, knowledgeable, and at the same time amazingly anticipates many road test/driving questions and problems. All of the staff were amazing from the first moment I contacted them; answering questions, providing a number of options for lessons. I had John for my brush-up lessons and he was absolutely wonderful. He was always calm, kept things relaxed, and explained things clearly and concisely. I took the 20 hour insurance reduction course with John Odlum! He is an awesome driving instructor! He's so calm, patient, friendly and knowledgeable! John also makes sure that you really understand everything. I took my road test yesterday on June 22nd and I passed! 1st try and I passed with 100% I got NO POINTS! The office staff are very polite and helpful accommodating you needs and requests. They also promptly respond to emails. The driving instructor John is a good teacher: he does not yell and he repeats the same things if necessary without getting irritated. I first chose this school when my email inquiry was met with a patient, explanatory email from Boris. He gave detailed information about the school and about the process of driver training in 2017, plus he was incredibly helpful in assisting me in purchasing class and driving time in order to surprise my son for his birthday. The class time and the driving instruction were top-notch. The class instructor was funny and helped the students to learn the facts with humour. Darcy was my son's driving instructor and to say he was excellent would be an understatement. Darcy's calm demeanour helped my son learn in a stress-free and supportive environment, and his encyclopedic knowledge of all things driving-related was incredible. Boris' continued assistance through the time of my son's driving lessons, whether it be booking or re-booking or extra time, or advice or ANYTHING, was always incredibly calm and helpful. It seemed no question of mine was too stupid for him to answer. My son frequently thanks the family for chipping in on these lessons for him, as he feels the skills he learned were incredibly valuable. Finding a good driving school that offers support and patience, and that adheres to current laws, is utterly vital in your success as a driver, both as a new driver and throughout your driving life. Proactive did a great job in offering the online program. They were prompt in their responses and all the steps involved in attaining the licence were clearly explained. Learning in winter allowed me to get some experience driving on snow as well. John was my instructor and he was very experienced and helped me pass the test on the first go. I NEVER thought I'd be driving confidently. I've always had a fear of driving.
