Great experience! The instructors are well informed about the best practices and the science behind them. I have been riding for a few years now but there were plenty of things I learnt like the most optimum riding position, better cornering techniques, etc. The course is structured to be at the right pace so I was never bored or felt it was too fast. Regardless of your experience, there's something for everyone to learn. Read Less

Had a fantastic experience this past weekend with SRT. The classroom portion of the class was lively and the two different instructors each brought stories and personality to the material to help bring it to life. The range work on ths motorcycles was challenging and very informative. They truly taught us techniques that will save our lives one day. This is not a paper mill so expect to be challenged but it was not so tough as to induce panic before the written or practical material. I'll probably go back before year's end to take their advanced course. Read Less

My daughter and I went together and we were both so impressed with the attention to detail in both the classroom and driving instruction. Excellent program. The classroom portion was full of info and they cover a lot of topics (hard to absorb it all in two days) but they give you a booklet that has proved o be handy resource and helps me retain a lot of the tips. The riding instruction was also fast-paced and I was initially very nervous being a first time rider but the instructors do an excellent job of making sure you have the fundamental skills down and don't move on until everyone is proficient. Highly recommend this to anyone looking to learn or review basic skills! Doc and Carl are great people. Read Less

I took a 3-day rider training course, and I am very happy with my investment. I went from a complete beginner to a street-ready rider in 3 days! The instructors, presentations and course content is perfectly set up to enable a good, safe and fun experience. Keep in mind that, in order to pass, you have to really focus and pay attention. The instructors work a very tight schedule, so tardiness will mean that you are excused from the course. They are very serious about this rule. If you commit to getting enough rest, eating well and paying full attention to the course, you should be able to become a safe, certified rider! I really enjoyed the lessons from Doc and Carl--both very professional, funny and motivated instructors who clearly care about making riding safe and fun. The course owner generously provides coffee and snacks, which helps with the long days.Enjoy the course, and don't be late!! Read Less

I went to the class as a refresher and check my balance plus get an insurance break. As well if I was going to crash it might as well not be on my bike. Mike and David were my field instructors who were both ex Anaheim motor police officers. David admitted to teaching these classes for 6 years. I did quick math and that is nearly 600 classes!  Mike was a detailed and excellent instructor as well. Things moved quickly and to the point in the written class as Doc was an excellent instructor. I took this class with absolutely no prior knowledge of motorcycles or how to ride them. I took this class because I wanted to change that. My first attempt to taking the class was a year before I passed. I was moving apartments on the same weekend. On the second attempt I payed to reserve a Saturday/Sunday session, which by the way is always sold out in the summer for people who are on standby. I was asked to leave the first day out in the range. The instructor said ...that two times falling was enough times and that I had to go home because I was unsafe. Mind you I actually never fell. I "dropped" my motorcycle both times. I was stopped on 1st gear both times but turned my handles while waiting in line and didn't have the strength to keep that particular motorcycle I was using straight up so I had to put it in the ground. I did this twice. The first time the instructor explained what I did wrong for that to happen. I still wasn't sure how I lost balance and so I did it again. I learned what I did wrong the second time but it was too late for that session; I had to go home. Honestly I was pretty upset but the instructors have a lot of experience and they really do know best and you cannot take anything personal. THIRD ATTEMPT, I ended up having two great instructors, Doc and Mike! They are knowledgeable and encouraging! They are also very strict but even so they were more patient with me than I felt I deserved. Conducting a motorcycle, especially for the first timers, is not to be taken for granted. Pay close attention. Listen to the instructors. I learned so much from this course and I am glad I had to retake it because honestly I probably can take this same class annually and learn a lot each time. It's a lot of solid material in the span of a couple of days. What they teach is all to current standards. My advice, ask instructor to help you select a bike you can have better control of. The motorcycle I had on my third attempt was a much lighter choice than the first and in turn I had better balance. Also, take this course on a weekend when you don't have other things going on. You need to stay focused and rested; its a lot of material and since most of us have busy lives retaking this class three times is not very realistic for everyone. See More Read Less

The instructors really teach well and are very personable, making the class a truly enjoyable experience and not dull in the least bit. They make sure to emphasize important points well and really want you to pass your exams. The riding portion is done at a fairly fast, but steady pace and the instructors equally give clear instructions and take the time to make sure everyone is safe and taken care of; they are very understanding of the situation and are always approachable and ready to clarify any questions.Great people, great course, would DEFINITELY recommend to anyone considering taking a motorcycle riding course. I attended the CMSP Motorcycle Training Course to waive the driving portion of the motorcycle license endorsement. I have previous riding experience having ridden a dirtbike for several years, and have ridden as a passenger of a motorcycle for even longer so I was fairly familiar with the mechanics of riding on the road. Additionally I had my permit and practiced for months before taking the class. I had Carl and Doc as my instructors for this course. They pack a lot of information into the class and it goes by very quickly. The instructors are very knowledgeable, helpful, patient, and professional. They will teach you everything from the ground up having never even seen a motorcycle before. This should be a requirement for every rider. I used my own equipment (motorcycle and gear) so I cannot speak to any of those components, but they did have helmets, gloves, and motorcycles for you to borrow if you need them. The instructors gave very helpful tips throughout the riding portion, even if you think you've got it down, they'll give you something to think about and work on. The classroom material can make you a more observant and aware rider and driver. the SRT program goes above and beyond by providing snacks and drinks during the classroom portion and water during the riding portion. This is very helpful to those that forgot to get or bring breakfast or water for throughout the day. We rode rain and shine, be prepared if it rains, because you'll still ride unless there is lightning. I highly recommend everyone that would like to get the motorcycle endorsement on their license to take this course, it WILL make you a better rider. I definitely recommend Saddleback Rider Training because I had a great experience there with the very knowledgeable and personable instructors, comfortable environment, and well kept riding area. Took the beginners course this past weekend. The course was very informative and the instructors were awesome. I'm a novice rider and the course gave me information that has made me a better and safer rider. The class is a very relaxed atmosphere, but there was a lot of information that'll help you out on what road. Tha range was also awesome. Again, a lot of information that'll definitely make you a better rider (rain or shine the class on the range goes on, like in the real world). All the instructors were awesome, they take the time to insure you take in all information being put out. You will be challenged, but in the end you will be a better rider. I recommend taking this course no matter what your riding experience is. I'll definitely be taking the next class after 500 miles. Read Less

It's been 2 days since I've taken the class this past weekend and I still smile over it.  I read the reviews here, mostly good, some okay, and some bad.  Wasn't quite sure what to expect coming into this motorcycle class.  My experience is non existent, I've never ridden a motorcycle other than my co-workers honda ruckus for about 5 seconds (it's a moped type vehicle)I'm turning the big 3 - 0 this year and wanted to do something out of the ordinary so I started looking into motorcycle classes. This one had great reviews so I decided to give it a shot.I'm glad I did! All the instructors in the class are great and competent.  John was our lecture instructor for both days and he was both informative and hilarious! I love that guy, really enjoyed his teaching style, I felt like I was at the university.  It's that legit! The clinical portion or hands on motorcycle training is where you will learn your skills.  The first day i was horrible.  I thought i was going to fail because my instructors both Dan and Doc were very very tough!  It's tough love out there, and if you can't handle it you shouldn't be riding in the first place.  I began to see why they were so tough on me (they don't want you to die!) and i'm glad that they were.  We did the testing and we all passed with flying colors.  There were people of all ages and types, I felt very comfortable being there.I wish I can take the class again for the sake of being with everyone.  It's almost a bittersweet once you leave.  I miss Saddleback training, and the only thing that I can do for them is to write and praise how great they are.I hope you take this class, keep an open mind, read the material they send you beforehand, and expect to have fun!  Please don't let their strictness bend you the wrong way.  They are looking out for your safety and for the safety of others.  If you don't take motorcycling seriously, it can mean your life or something else's!Thank you Saddleback Rider Training, John, Dan, and Doc for making my experience a memorable one i'll never forget.-Eugene5/5 stars. This class was great. I had a lot of fun. I had never ridden a motorcycle before and knew pretty close to nothing about what I was getting into. I signed up online and was sent information regarding the class, what to bring and how to get there. I recommend coming early the first day to find the right classroom. There are helmets, gloves, eye protection, and boots to borrow. I brought my own boots and gloves and there was no problem finding the right size for a helmet. I also wear glasses, which satisfies the eye protection element of the glass. Carl, Dan, Mike, and Syd were well informed and very helpful. I did the two day, weekend course - days can be long but we were given plenty of breaks. I was able to grab lunch and get some work done during the 15 minute breaks. Bottom line, I didn't really know anything going in, I briefly looked over the material they sent before the class and paid attention- at the end I had a much better understanding of what riding a motorcycle entails and that like anything - it takes practice. If you're interested in riding a motorcycle or even just getting your M1 endorsement, take this course. Read Less

We are rookies and would recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn how to ride the best way possible. I cannot imagine anything they might have done better to improve our experience. Special thanks go out to both the Mikes, Lyle, Karl and everyone else for their professionalism. Read Less

SUCH a wonderful experience! There are two portions to the course: the class and the actual riding.

Read Less
